Kevin Conroy May Not Be Voicing Batman in Arkham Origins

If you’ve ever watched a Batman cartoon or played a Batman game, then you would probably have heard the voice of Kevin Conroy. His voice has brought Batman to life in various outings including Batman: The Animated Series (which is my favourite Batman portrayal, by the way) right up to the recent Rocksteady Arkham games. To many people, Kevin Conroy is Batman.

So, the news that he will likely not be reprising his role as the Dark Knight in Arkham Origins is a bit saddening. This news has come from South African gaming mag NAG who (according to Kotaku) have said that Warner Bros are dropping Conroy for a younger voice actor, or at least someone who can put across a younger version of Batman in Origins.

I suppose it makes some sense to bring in someone who isn’t as experienced in voicing Batman to mirror the scenario that Arkham Origins will be playing out with a less experienced Batman. If this is true then Conroy won’t be the first to leave this franchise behind. After all, Mark Hamill confirmed that he would no longer be voicing the Joker.

So, who do you think would be a good replacement?

  1. David Hayter isn’t doing anything right now…

  2. No. Just plain wrong if true. It was bad enough without Mark Hamill and Paul Dini but no Conroy either? To me, Conroy is Batman.

  3. I guess the only way this is OK is because he’s portraying a younger Batman. Still, sad news.

  4. ADAM WEST. :D

  5. Aren’t Rocksteady meant to be working on a sequel to Arkham City whilst this studio work on Origins? If so, hopefully Kevin Conroy will voice Bats for that. It would make sense with him not doing it here as they are really trying to aim for a young, inexperienced Batman.

If the Rocksteady thing is true however, and he’s not voicing Bats for that either, I’LL BE PISSED.

  6. Joe Pasquale. Bring some humour to the role.

    • Batman is no laughing matter.

Unless it’s Bale’s Batman and then it’s freakin’ hilarious.
