Whilst Amazon isn’t the first online retailer to start pre-orders for Sony’s PlayStation 4, overnight they put up their own official pre-order page, with an asking price of £600.
Naturally that’s a placeholder price – Sony would be crazy to think people are going to get three jobs to pay for one – but it does start the ball rolling.
Naturally, Amazon will charge you the lower price if (and when) the price drops.
The PS4 is currently number one in the top 100 PC and video game pre-order charts, with Microsoft’s Xbox One – the subject of considerable PR backlash since last week – in second.
PS4 is due out in the UK later this year. Sony will officially reveal the console in just under two weeks time in Los Angeles. We’ll be there in force.

While in the Brighton GAME yesterday I asked the staff how many Xbox One orders they’ve had, apparently they’ve had 70 since the reveal! Didn’t ask bout PS4 but 70 seems like a lot to me. Considering all the furor about it, makes me think the general public will but it whatever, they just want the new Xbox.
Though Game staff were trying the hard sell so that may have something to do with it too.

I don’t expect it to be that much, even with the more expensive DDR5 ram. Sony don’t want a repeat of what happened with PS3 and even though (i thought) the Vita was a reasonable launch price the slow sales will be another reason for them to set the right price point for the PS4.
I would expect to have to pay around 100 quid more for PS4 than for the premium Wii U package, assuming that the Gamepad is more expensive to manufacture than the DS4.
Mind you i expect the Wii U will have a notable discount around the same time.

Ive only ever pre orderd 1 console and that was the Dreamcast R.I.P, if needs be though i may pre order PS4.

I honestly need to start seeing some ‘ballparl’ figures on Next-Gen hardware before i even consider getting excited by either platform.
With things like Kinect 2, new Eye Toy bundled in as standard, plus controllers having even more gubbins put into them, prices gotta be higher.
As well as price of console, i need to know just how much 2nd controllers are going to cost, paid £35 for a PS3 dual shock few months back, PS4 controller has far more features, so what am i looking at Nect Gen controller wise, £50?
Plus Sony need to start speaking on just what they intend to do about used games etc, it’s no good say the PS4 console costs £350, but then there’s fees to paid on 2nd hand games etc, spare controllers etc cost a small fortune.
It’s price of memory cards that put me off Vita and that’s showing no signs of changing any time soon, sadly, so very wary of Next gen hardware costs at mo. myself.

Got my PS4 on pre-order with The Hut for £400 but still don’t know what that will include, still I can always change supplier when the details come out.
