NHL 14 Demo Gets Release Date

In our recent NHL 14 preview we detailed many of the exciting new additions to this year’s incarnation of the popular hockey series. The good news is, as of August 20th, EA is giving gamers the opportunity to try out many of these new features via a rather extensive demo coming to XBL and PSN.

Packing not one, but three game modes, the NHL 14 demo will let you try out the following options:

Play now lets you experience the core gameplay from NHL 14 as it puts you into the third period of a game between 2013 Stanely cup finalists, the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks. In this mode you’ll be able to check out many of the new changes, such as collision physics, the new enforcer mode and true performance skating.

NHL 94 Anniversay mode will throw you into that same senario, but this time via a retro representation from NHL’s past. Experience big goals and bigger hits as you’re taken back to NHL’s gaming roots with it’s stripped back rules, classic button controls, blue ice, organ music and star-shaped player icons.

Hockey Ultimate Team Tourament lets you create and manage your own fantasy hockey team to compete in tournaments. In this mode you’ll face off in a mini tournament against four rival teams where you’ll get the oppertunity to unlock two HUT packs (used to build and enhance your team) for use in the retail version of the game.

NHL 14 is due for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 10th in North America and the September 13th in Europe.

  1. Haven’t bought a NHL game for years so will defiantly give the demo ago. Glad to see more than one game mode available.

    • Same. Only have NHL08 for PS3, so very interested in this, especially for the ’94 mode!
