Xbox One To Release Before PS4?

While everyone else and their dog is saying that we’ll be seeing the PlayStation 4 at the end of October, VG24/7 have been speaking to someone on the Gamescom show floor who says that the release date will be in late November.

Up until recently, November was expected, but rumours of October have been everywhere recently. Microsoft didn’t reveal the Xbox One release date during their press briefing this morning, so could be waiting until after Sony confirm their’s so in order to gain an advantage.

This is in keeping with what VG24/7’s source is saying, with the anonymous character confirming that the Xbox One would also release earlier in at least one territory (probably the US) than Sony’s system.

We’ll find out exactly what Sony’s plans are soon during their press conference – which you can watch right here on TSA – which kicks off at 6PM UK time. Expect an Xbox One release date announcement soon after.

  1. Would explain the delays for some European countries, but late November for PS4 doesn’t sound believable (to me).

Might just be a good way to get huge traffic for VG247.

What would be really funny is if Sony don’t announce a release date at all… Internet meltdown.

  2. No! no no no no no no no no

Now where is the button to delete this entire page?

    • and how would this be so devastating to you exactly?

    • Good things come to those that wait. Look at the rushed out pile of crap the Xbox 360 was

  3. Was their source ‘Major’ Nelson perchance? ;o)

Seriously though, whoever is out first will definitely have a small advantage so it’ll be interesting to see what happens at the announcement.

  4. Interesting, things seem to be swining in xbox ones favour again

    • I’m not so sure, there are reports that the chip yield is a lot lower than MS was hoping because of problems with the ESRAM. May not be true but would explain the cutting of launch countries.

  5. Launching first or launching with enough stock?

  6. I think MS didn’t reveal the date because not every european country is getting the One day one. I’d imagine they would get alot of bad press if they announced the US date to people who weren’t able to buy the One on that same date.

As far as who launches first, it doesn’t matter, as long as they’re both out by christmas. If one gets a few weeks head start it doesn’t matter. Whats really important is who gets the most units on store shelves before christmas for the more important impulse buyers and christmas shoppers.

  7. I think they left the date announcement till tomorrow so they take the headlines from Sonys announcement tonight. Basic pr stuff.

  8. Really hoped for an october PS4 release, now with it basically going into Dec i have no chance with xmas looming and two brats wanting xbox’s and vitas :(
