Miles Jacobson, Studio Director at London based developer Sports Interactive has taken to the PlayStation Blog to detail the freshly-announced Football Manager Classic 2014 for the PlayStation Vita.
Whilst maintaining the level of detail and respect for the game fans of the series have come to expect, Football Manager Classic is “a quicker way to play the full Football Manager experience.” says Jacobson.
Promising the game will have “way more features” than previous Football Manager handheld titles, Jacobson continues “It has all you’d expect from FM – our huge database of players researched by a team of over 1,500 scouts around the world, a 3D match engine showing the action, a full tactics module, realistic transfers, AI that makes both players and managers act as you’d expect them to in the real world, and dozens of playable leagues, with hundreds of manageable clubs from all over the world, but has been streamlined for a faster playing experience.”
The post goes on to discuss how the partnership between Football Manager and Vita came about, and how development really was a labour of love, involving SCEE’s Senior Business Development Manager – and very much man of the moment – Shahid Ahmad, alongside the extremely helpful and talented chaps at Hardlight, Little Stone and SEGA.
Jacobson also used his post to talk a little about cloud saving, and the Vita’s ability to utilise cross-platform saves from PC, Mac or Linux versions of the Football Manager game. “Play the game at home on your computer, upload the saved game to the cloud, download on your PS Vita, and continue to play on the bus.”
Although a release date is as yet unannounced, I’m sure we can expect more info on Football Manager Classic 2014 in the coming months.

Sounds awesome, but disastrous at the same time. This has the potential to make me miss train stations and bus stops!
