Microsoft have just confirmed through Major Nelson’s blog that the Xbox One will be releasing on the 22nd of November worldwide. That’s just a week after the PS3’s US release date on the 15th of November, and a week before the European PS4 release date of November 29th.
Will this release date make a difference? Does releasing a week after Sony, at least in the US, mean that Sony will be more successful with the PS4? It’s hard to say just yet, but the time between releases isn’t as big a gap as there was between the Xbox 360 and the PS3.
PS4 has the majority of European market, anyway, with the Xbox One delayed in many countries in Europe until March 2014, though the Xbox One may be able to do well in the UK, as it releases a week before the PS4 here.
The confirmed markets for November 22nd are as follows:Â Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and USA.

The economy in some certain countries plus those that aren’t receiving it in the launch window will see a slow start for the xbox one in the EU.Having said that give it a couple of years and both consoles will be doing well enough.

This wont make a slightest difference to who buys what. It’s so close it doesn’t really matter in any country in my opinion.

Whatever happens, Microsoft will probably head the sales charts if the staff bonus white models get added to the final release figures.
Nothing like a bit of figure fondling. :P
Joking aside, I wish both companies the very best of luck with launch and long may the healthy competiton between them continue….for the punters sake. :)

VERY telling. Microsoft can beat PS4 to market on home ground

Can’t

Wow, so with it releasing a week after in thr US, and a week before in Europe than the PS4, it’s release its pretty much identical to the PS4. What a turn around from last/current-gen.

Clever date.
US has always been an XB stronghold, since the first console. So a week later will make almost no difference.
Europe, particularly UK, are where the most hotly contested geographies will be.
Not that it’ll make much difference. A week is negligible and launch allocation will sell out anyway. The TRUE test will be how quick each company can restock. Cause I lost count of how many people I heard say “I lost patience waiting for the PS3 so just got a 360. Whichever company can restock faster will get the “launch hype” buyers (those that don’t pre-order but get caught up in the excitement), and that’s where the early adopter sales will be made. Pre-orders are a done deal, it’s the people who don’t pre-order that they need to catch (via restocking)

That won’t be an issue here in Portugal, as with Christmas around the corner and no Xbone release date around only the fans will wait for it; I would wait for the PS4 if it was the other way around (or at least I think I would…).

I just can’t get excited by launch day battles. This is another marathon. Both consoles will still be here in 5 years so why does this matter?
Maybe I’ve got console fatigue.

Using a blog to announce your next generation console, is it just me or does that seem a bit an anticlimax after all the hype.
