Square Enix Releases Dev Diary For FFXIV PS4 Version

Final Fantasy XIV has been hitting the headlines quite a lot recently, and not always for the best of reasons. However, publisher Square Enix is already looking ahead, releasing its first developer diary focused on the game’s upcoming PlayStation 4 port.

Narrated by game director, Naoki Yoshida, the video is only available in Japanese at present. However, between footage of Yoshida there are clips which are -we assume- taken from the upcoming next-gen version.

At a glance, it doesn’t look like much of an improvement, at least not when compared to the PC version. However, those currently playing on PS3 will know that performance can be shaky in parts, with pop-in a common issue when travelling at high speeds.

Hopefully, working with Sony’s latest hardware, the FFXIV team will be able to produce a port on par with its PC counterpart.

We’ll have more on Square’s latest MMORPG next week.

  2. Enjoying this game a lot, just a shame I don’t have the amount of time available that I want to sink into it!

  3. Is there a more specific release date than 2014 for the PS4 version?
