While we have a slice of indie goodness with Lone Survivor today, it won’t be until Friday before you’ll see any big releases, namely a new entry into the Armored Core series and another update to EA’s FIFA. There a couple of other games which won’t be of much interest unless you love Japan.
Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut | PS3, Vita | Tuesday
This week’s indie fix is Jasper Byrne’s Lone Survivor. Retooled for both the PlayStation 3 and Vita via Curve Studios (Thomas Was Alone, anyone?) this director’s cut features a slew of additional content, including new endings.
We’ll have a full review soon, but in the meantime you can read our hands on preview if you want to hear more.
Armored Core Verdict Day | PS3, Xbox 360 | Friday
Namco’s flagship mech sim is set for another instalment later this week with Verdict Day. The game follows directly after Armored Core V, pitting three factions against one another in a campaign of robotic carnage.
With little in the way of press coverage, it’s hard to weigh up Verdict Day’s chances of delivering. The previous instalment proved a little mundane and, in other areas, needlessly complex. Hopefully From Software can get the series back on track.
Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness | PS3 | Friday
Another long-running Japanese series, Disgaea is also set to return this week with a follow-up to 2003’s Hour of Darkness.
Exclusive to PlayStation 3, it will no doubt mimic previous entries with its tactical, turn-based combat and party customisation.
Revisions to the old Disgaea template are limited, ushering in new abilities and skills, as well as a combo system and being able to mount in-game monsters.
FIFA 14 | PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Vita, 3DS, PSP, PS2, Wii | Friday
Football. ‘Nuff said, really.
With a few incremental changes here and there, those wanting more out of their annual purchase will be better off waiting for FIFA 14’s next-gen release. Main reason? EA’s spanking new Ignite Engine which emulates authentic movement and ball control.
And if you’re planning to buy the 3DS, Vita, PSP, PS2 or Wii version of the game, then don’t expect any gameplay changes – all EA have done is changed a bit of code to update the rosters.
Inazuma Eleven 3 | 3DS | Friday
Keeping with the football theme we have Inazuma Eleven 3 for the Nintendo 3DS. The game comes in two different versions (“Bomb Blast” and “Lightning Bolt”), both of which still exhibiting the game’s unique blend of sports and role-playing.
Anything for you this week or are you still tied up with GTA V?

Deffo grabbing Lone Survivor if it comes to EU PSN. Apart from that still trying to find time to play GTA V. Not easy with a 2 month old baby.

There’s another Disgaea game out this week? Why was I not informed of this?
Quite where I’ll find the time for it, I don’t know. I’m currently horribly addicted to Diablo 3, and it’s PS+ Wednesday tomorrow.
And I think there’s some sort of GTA game that’s coming soon. Or might even be out already. I’m not sure which, since I’ve read very little about it online. Never seen such a big game released with so little hype. I would have expected it to be all over the place and getting quite tedious by now.

Lone Survivor for me, been waiting for this for ages!
First time in years I haven’t bought FIFA….figured I’d save the cash for PS4 and skip it one year in an attempt to help finish my PS3 backlog.
