Sony Could Have A PS4/Vita Bundle Ready For Launch

Remote play between the PS4 and Vita is one of the biggest focuses by Sony for the next generation, especially since almost all PS4 games will support the feature, with games being reliant on the PS4 camera being the exception. There has been speculation that a PS4/Vita bundle is in the works at Sony due to such a focus, so OPM asked Sony’s Fergal Gara about the likelihood of such a package.

“At the moment sat down with our retail partners discussing exactly what they want the PS4 launch pack to look like. And its very easy for us to work with them and say looks lets create a package that contains PS Plus, Killzone Shadow Fall, PS Vita, PS4, shall we do that?… Would we work with them to support them to make that it happen? Yes.”

Sony appear to be open to new bundle ideas being suggested by retailers, allowing for different titles to be switched in and out of proposed ideas. However, whether such a bundle will definitely be available to consumers is still unknown.

“So there is interest in the mechanic. Right now, as I sit here today, we’re not producing a box that fits a PS4 and PS Vita in that one box. We we could probably change our mind in the morning and still have it ready for launch to be honest so it’s not a big decision. It’s not a hard thing to do”.

The Vita itself experienced a large jump in sales following E3 and gamescom, and with the announcement of Vita TV at the Japanese PlayStation conference, things look bright for the console. There’s still two months between now and launch of the PS4 so Sony do have plenty of time to decide to go down a PS4/Vita bundle route.

If a bundle containing both consoles was announced would you get it?

  1. If I didn’t already have a Vita then yes but that bundle isn’t going to be cheap.

Even if they don’t do it just go buy a vita now anyway. There are some really good bundles around for £160 or less.

  2. I think GAME may have started some sort of retail-organised bundle of PS4 and Vita. I saw something yesterday about it, although knowing GAME, it’ll be expensive. But

I know some people who have bought both PS3 and Vita together, so a PS4 bundle would surely be lucrative for Sony. Waiting for Vita TV as a UK announcement more than anything though.

    • What’d be interesting, fella, would be if Sony gave the go ahead to retailers that they could subsidise the cost of a Vita if it was bought at the same time as a PS4. So… no need to go down the route of designing a bundle/package but it’s something that all retailers would know about and suggest to the small percentage that might fancy it.

      • True, but that would only leave GAME to take the **** with prices :P

You never know though, might happen. I could see a reasonable £499 tag at the very least for such a bundle, retail or otherwise.

  3. If I didn’t already have a Vita, I would. Maybe I’d get it for my son. For now, I’m hoping I can get hold of the PS4/KZ/2 controllers/camera bundle.

  4. A PS4/Vita bundle would certainly help sales for the handheld.

  5. Nah, not interested in the Vita personally

  6. I don’t really see the point in bundles to be honest, very rarely are they any cheaper than buying the individual items on their own anyway. Any ps4 plus vita bundle would not come cheap!

    • The ‘mega bundle’, as it is called, will be available for €499 and includes the PS4 console, two Dualshock 4 controllers, the Playstation Camera, and a copy of Killzone: Shadow Fall.

If you would buy the individual items on their own it would cost €399 for the PS4 console and a Dualshock 4 controller, €65 for an extra Dualshock 4 controller, €60 for the Playstation Camera, and €70 for a copy of Killzone: Shadow Fall.

That’s €95 advantage on the bundle. I do see the point.

    • Usually yes, but that advert on the French Amazon? website had a PS4/Vita + trimmings bundle for around the price of an XBone. If that was the case then it could be an exception to the rule.

  7. I bought a Vita at launch, but traded it in after a couple of months due to the slow start and while I don’t regret it, I’m getting more and more tempted to pick one up alongside my PS4 pre-order. Its starting to look quite attractive.

  8. Yes IF I didn’t already own a Vita. Got mine at launch been happy since. I’m a bit confused where this whole “Vita doesn’t have games” statement comes from. It had an awesome launch line up. Maybe I just play games on lots of platforms but I barely get to play my vita due to lack of time and PS+

  9. I’d definitely be interested – though if it was a new Vita that’d presumably help with the bundle cost. £499 for PS4, Vita and both of the Killzone titles would see me readily invest!

  10. Originally I was interested in the prospect of a Vita & PS4 bundle if it was a bargain, but now after the announcement of Vita TV and the possibility of it coming over, I wonder if I want a regular Vita now.
