Following yesterday’s announcement that ASDA will have a limited number of PlayStation 4 consoles available tomorrow, both GAME and rival supermarket chain TESCO have confirmed that they too will have free sale stock for a lucky few.
Tesco tweeted to say they’ll have stock at 150 stores for those who forgot to pre-order, while GAME have promised MCV that their 300 stores hosting midnight launches will also have “a limited number of additional PlayStation 4 bundles available at launch.”
If you’re quick enough GAME are also currently offering some “Launch Day Stock” on their website, although this seems to be at vastly inflated prices, and definitely won’t appear on your doorstep tomorrow morning.
As for other high street retailers, both Argos and Sainsbury have said they will be stocking the PS4 from the moment doors open on Friday, although neither store is able to confirm exact figures with regards to how many units they’ll have available.
Ten hours left. Are you ready?

Wish i didnt pre pay my pre order with shopto which guaranteed before christmas. Should have just kept my money and gone to my local tesco who said they have 30 consoles to go on sale after 12.

Perhaps these are from cancelled pre-orders, or do Sony have extra stock?
I’m ready! I should finish off my last bit of PS3 gaming tonight(at least for a while – Dishonored DLC). I’ve download the PS4 patch to a USB stick just in case. I’ve redeemed my PSN Credit vouchers/cards ready for any digit bits. I’m leaving work slightly earlier tomorrow. I’ve also been extra kind to the wife this week to ensure she stays at home tomorrow in anticipation for the DPD delivery. I’ll setup a pitch for her by the window with the Sky remote (so she can watch her stock of “The Only Way is Keeping up with the Next Top X-Factors Russians Diaries”), a flask of tea and supply of biscuits. What else can I do?

I think Sony had always planned to hold back day one stock for retailers.

I think Sony have always planned to have stock available at launch.

Jinx! At the same time too! ;)
That’s cool – I did wonder. It would (at least appear) to be a dull release without any excitement if there wasn’t any PS4s to purchase on release, it gives some people hope who weren’t able to pre-order in time. I hope the people that bother to queue for ages manage to get one!
Starman
I hope all the people who bought extra in hope of selling them for profit are now stuck with a spare console!

Mine is on the way as I type so I can crack open a bottle of jack daniels and celebrate also I ordered assassins creed at 12.05am today and that’s due tomorrow so that killzone with the computer and call of duty ghosts already bought I’m going to be spoilt for choice oh and resogun not bothered about contrast I’ll give that a miss for now

Ooooooooffff Tesco confirm they have stock in my area…midnight it is then since my pre-order has not been accepted…

I’m all set for getting mine via DPD in the morning/afternoon. I’ve set up camp at the front door and have positioned a mirror so that I can see the TV. In case I need the loo and i’m in there while my PS4 arrives, I’ve trained my dog to bark furiously as soon as my front gate squeeks.
Hope that everyone who hasn’t pre-ordered but wants one, gets one. ?? o_O

So all those rumours that shops wouldn’t have any Day 1 stock and everywhere would be sold out until after xmas was all a lie? What a surprise! Saying stock is low is by far the easiest way to build up hype, and it’s also just an excuse for retailers like Game and Zavvi to hike up prices to rip off customers.
Scythegpd
Yep. Supply and demand 101. Give the appearance of reduced supply for a hot ticket item and watch demand soar.
beeje13
Not really, there is still a waiting list till january. Sony has witheld stock and while it may create more excitement on launch day, I have to say I disagree and think that those who pre ordered first should be served.
gazzagb
Sony aren’t stupid though, especially after the PS3’s launch. I bet they’ll be plenty of stock around for the run-up to Xmas, so scaremongering people into pre-ordering just ensured they’d get the early sales they wanted.
blackredyellow
I got mine from Best Buy (in Canada) on the day of release. No pre-order. Just rocked up and paid for it there and then, no bother.
All this hype to get people to pre-order.

Nooooo mines being delivered by ShittyLink I was hoping for DPD… maybe I should have gone with Tesco and woke up early! hehe.
