Pokémon Bank will launch later this month, acting as a form of cloud storage for all of your pocket monsters. That means you’ll be able to deposit up to 3000 Pokémon into private boxes on the online service.
You’ll also be able to transfer between games using the service, even from the same 3DS system, which removes any issues with having to transfer using two consoles.
The Poké Transporter will allow you to transfer your favourite Pokémon from Black & White and their sequels, so if you’re willing to go through a convoluted process, you’ll even be able to get creatures from the Gameboy Advance games onto X & Y, making it much easier to catch ’em all.
Players who download the services between December 27, 2013 and January 31, 2014 will gain access to a trial pass, which means 30 days of using the service for free. Beyond that, you’ll have to pay a $4.99 annual subscription to keep using it, though expect the functionality to carry over to future games.
It certainly seems like a future proof solution for transferring these characters to future games.
