Warner Bros. has released a slew of screenshots for upcoming open-world adventure, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
It’s not clear which version of the game the screens are taken from. They depict the game’s lead protagonist, Talion, as well as Orc warriors and what appears to be the Black Gate.
Set between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Shadow of Mordor follows the story of Talion, a ranger whose family dies upon the return of Sauron. Talion isn’t killed, however, and is brought back to life, imbued with Wraith powers. These will no doubt bolster the hero’s combat prowess as he battles against the Dark Lord’s armies.
Warner Bros. is also keen to outline the game’s Nemesis system. It’s an organic feature used to smarten enemy AI, to the point that they remember your previous actions when you meet in battle again. This mechanic will also help to sculpt a number of the game’s plot arcs.
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is being developed by Monolith Productions, the same team behind Guardians of Middle Earth and the FEAR franchise. It is currently slated for PS3, PS4, PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

The whole wraith powers thing makes me think Tolkien is turning in his grave. Still though, could be alright. Looks pretty.

Legolas shoe-horned into The Hobbit….Don’t think there is enough room in Tolkiens grave for all this rotation.

I’d much prefer a LOTR RPG like Skyrim, or a RTS like Battle For Middle Earth on PS4.
PARKER94!
closest thing to that would be LOTR: The third age, pretty good game, mybe dated now

I’m assuming these are cutscenes, or artwork. On this occasion, i’d love to assume incorrectly. Concept is intriguing, i’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

I agree with you mclarenrob2. Why we haven’t seen a Skyrim-esque LOTR RPG is beyond me so much scope for missions etc would be epic
