On 28th March 2014 all three Resistance games on PlayStation 3 will lose their online features. If you fancy one last bash at Resistance: Fall Of Man multiplayer then best do it quick
Four days earlier on 20th March, Gran Turismo 5 will lose all online functions, which seems rather soon after the release of GT6.
Sony also confirmed once more the closure of the servers for MAG, SOCOM: Special Forces and SOCOM: Confrontation on January 28th. As MAG and SOCOM: Confrontation do not have offline modes you might as well fashion the discs in to decorative hats after the shutdown.

Resistance FOM was the first game I’ve ever played online on the PS3… But, that was ages ago, it’s therefore acceptable. With R2 and R3, I guess there simply aren’t that many players left.
However, switching off GT5 is unacceptable. It feels like that just came out not too long ago, as it took them ages and more to develop. This is a very bad way to try to get us on GT6, which many seem to skip.

Not sure what to make of the GT5 servers being switched off. On the one hand they have had a decent lifespan of 3 and a half years (by April 2014), then on the other hand there are always newcomers that fancy the latest release of a series but buy the previous version as a try out before committing, but it does seem quite soon after the latest games release.
It suits me anyway as it’ll likely free up resources to fortify the latest Gran Turismo multiplayer experience.

Online racing is shut down for GT5 on the said March day, whilst other online functionality stays on until May 20th. Basically, “Seasonal Events”, which are races that are uploaded every week. They won’t be adding new ones).
