After various leaks, including the premise this morning, SEGA have announced Alien: Isolation, developed by The Creative Assembly, the team behind the Total War franchise.
It’s a first person game, which as the leaks suggested will star Ripley’s daughter, Amanda, and seems like a true survival horror title rather than a shooter, which should fit right in with the tone of the first Alien movie, taking the series back to its roots.
The game takes place on a decommissioned trading station “in the fringes of space” where players will find constant fear and dread around every corner. You’ll be truly underpowered and unprepared for the Xenomorph threat, which means scavenging resources and improvising solutions in order to stay alive.

Quite interestingly, it won’t be an Aliens game but rather an Alien game, as you’re stalked by a singular Xenomorph. Speaking about the creature, the game’s creative lead, Alistair Hope said:
“Our Alien is a truly terrifying creature, as intelligent as he is hostile, relentless, brutal and unstoppable. This is the Alien game fans of the series have always wanted.”
This sounds as though it could be an excellent game, which is true to the original movie which released 35 years ago this year. The gallery including screenshots below should give you a good idea of how the game looks, while the character art looks at the stars of the game:
The game will release late this year for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

My first thoughts exactly. It reminds me of the first Dead Space but with less shooting, which sounds great but I’d be very cautious after Colonial Marines…
I’ll wait for the reviews to hit before considering a purchase.

Screens don’t look bad and i’m liking the atmosphere of the trailer. Seeing as i didn’t play the previous game there’s a good chance i’ll check this out but i willprobably want to see a few reviews first.

Looks great. Just gotta keep our fingers crossed! As an Alien fan, I still found some enjoyment in Colonial Marines, although agree it was disappointing. I’ll probs end up buying this regardless too.

Looks brilliant and the lack of Gearbox means it should hopefully shouldn’t suck. Managed to pre-order it from Zavvi on X1 for £35 using a discount code so I’m pretty happy :)

The trailer looks great, definitely has the Dead Space feel to it. After the disappointment of Aliens: CM I really hope Isolation will do the Alien games justice.
