Rockstar has announced that Grand Theft Auto Online will be offline from tonight, and for approximately 24 hours. The small post says the maintenance will begin at 9PM Eastern Time, which is 2am GMT, until some point tomorrow.
There’s no mention as to what kind of maintenance will be carried out on Grand Theft Auto Online. It could range anything from upgraded security, since there seem to be quite a few sessions where players are giving billions away to anyone present, or it could just be improving things like matchmaking and the content creator.

UPDATE: Rockstar have confirmed that the servers are now back online.

I‘ve not been playing GTA V much recently so this won´t really affect me. I hope this is because Rockstar are adding Heists to the online though as I‘ve been looking forward to them being added.

Just before the holidays, I was gifted 2 large amounts, totalling roughly 160,000000. Furious, I looked at the notifications in the brief menu & along with my ticket to R*, requesting to have the total sum removed (a given option on R* Support,) I informed them of the psnids (wish sce would be get involved.)
I grinded away a little aftwards, but havnt bought anything significant, as i’ve lost track, of what is mine & whats modded. I hope a PC ver surfaces & takes alot of the modding/hacking communtity with it. Although, IV was cross platform & online became unplayable towards the end.
It seems so ungrateful… R* slog away at such a mammoth project & bang.

Brilliant game turned into a shambolic multiplayer shitefest. Good on Rockstar for attempting to put things right and not just chucking the cat amongst the pigeons then buggering off!
