Plus Point Challenge: Resogun

Welcome to this new TSA feature where each month we will be running challenges based on whatever games Sony are giving away as part of the PS+ Instant Games Collection for PS4. We explained the rules in detail yesterday, but we’ll quickly go over them again here.

Essentially, points will be awarded to entrants for their performance and a grand prize of a year’s subscription to PS+ will be given to the first person to achieve 50 points on the leaderboard over the coming months. Every month, a random winner from people who enter will also be chosen from entrants to win a £10 PSN voucher. PSN codes provided will be for UK or US regions, depending on which you prefer.

The first competition will be a high score competition on everyone’s favourite scrolling shooter, Resogun. The rules for this challenge are quite simple, but you should read those carefully so you know exactly what you have to do:

  1. Single level play through on the first level – Acis.
  2. Difficulty level to be set on the easiest level – Rookie.
  3. Any ship can be used.
  4. This must be a single player attempt – no co-op cheating here!
  5. Highest score achieved on Acis on Rookie difficulty will be awarded 10 leaderboard points, 2nd highest 9 points, 3rd will get 8 points and so on, all the way down to 1 point.
  6. Everyone who enters will receive 1 leaderboard point, regardless of finishing position.
  7. Entries must be submitted by 6PM on Sunday 26th January – late entries will not be considered.

In order to enter this competition, follow the steps below. Again, make sure you read them clearly and follow every step:

  1. Play the first level, Acis, as many times as you like on Rookie difficulty, trying to get the best score you can.
  2. Once you’re happy with your score, go to the high scores section of Resogun and find the score table for Acis, Rookie difficulty, single player mode.
  3. You can enter multiple times, but only your highest entry will be counted, and please don’t clog up the hashtag with constant entries!
  4. Press the Share button on your DualShock 4.
  5. Share a screenshot of the high score table, clearly displaying your PSN ID and best attempt.
  6. Share the screenshot via Twitter with the hashtag #TSAResogun.
  7. Make sure you include your TSA username on your tweet as well as the hashtag.

If you don’t have a Twitter account then worry not, you can set one up here. You won’t even need to keep the account, you can literally just use it to post your score then never use it again! You will need to link your Twitter account to your PS4 which can be done when you press the share button and choose Twitter as your sharing option.

Bonus Points contest – Wooden Spoon!

Think you’ve got no chance? Rubbish at the game? You’re not the only one – me too! There will be 5 bonus points awarded for the lowest score achieved. To enter this, complete the level and on the screen at the end that shows your score for the level, share the screenshot via the same method as above!

You can enter both the high score and low score competition, though nobody who finishes in the top 10 for the high score competition will be considered for the low score competition.

Any questions? Fire away in the comments below. Good luck, now go save those humans!

  1. Hoping to better my first two attempts later today. Feel I ought to post a lil too.

    • Just saw your latest score, yikes, not sure if I can beat that. Nice work.

      • Cheers. 27th is the score to beat.

Your name’s familiar – MGO RM (OPM Facebook)?

  2. Damn! I love resogun even more than Super Stardust HD. I’m just not very good at it. I will give it a go though. I have been playing on the next difficulty up though and did find it really hard to get used to the slow slower pace when I dropped back to Rookie one time…

  3. Is anyone else getting crashes late into the round? This is becoming infuriating!

    • Depends how you ‘play’ the level.

      • Keep practising, you’ll get there! If you use the fastest ship on the left, it really helps you to stay alive, as it has more boost, is easier to evade enemies and has homing ammo once upgraded. Use short boosts so you always have a way to escape and don’t be afraid to use a bomb if it’s needed! While boosting or in overdrive you can’t die, so use that to your advantage. Hope that helps. :o)

  4. I’m up for this.

  5. Just put in my shocking attempt only way I’m going to get any points on this game. Only way I’m going to get any points on this game

  6. awesome! hope i do well :)1

  7. Hello! I’m new. I will attempt to win.

  8. I see Cron_13 managed an incredible 72 million, congrats! Seems unlikely anyone will beat that but still 6 days left to try.
