Killzone Shadow Fall Breaches The Two Million Sales Wall

Sony has just released the sales figures for Killzone Shadow Fall, with the PlayStation 4 exclusive selling an impressive 2.1 million units worldwide since launch which was only two months ago. This figure is likely to have been inflated by the PS4 bundle which included Shadow Fall with it, but I’m sure the folks at Guerilla Games will be celebrating a job well done nonetheless.  Shuhei Yoshida released a small statement about the sales figure.

“I am thrilled that so many users have been enjoying Killzone Shadow Fall since the launch of PS4. This title fully embraces the creativity of the development team at Guerrilla Games*2 based in the Netherlands, and is a great representation of what SCE Worldwide Studios has to offer.”

It will be interesting to see how high that number jumps when the PS4 launches in Japan a few weeks from now, and whether the Japanese public will be as interested in the war between the Vektans and Helghast on the new Sony console. The press release from which this information comes from also mentions that release dates for the DLC, such as the free maps, will be announced shortly.

  1. Well that’s bloody good going.

    • Agreed, now when is the 1st bloody map pack coming out?! Good blast on sneak attack Tuff ;)

  2. There are literally hundreds of sealed ‘not for resale’ bundle copies going on ebay for £20, suggesting many people had no choice but to buy it in order to get a PS4. That said, I am really enjoying it so far and if it wasn’t a score, I’d have more than likely avoided it.

    • Thinking about it, with 600,000+ PS4s in the UK you can’t help but think that some people simply want to offload that “lovely present from auntie”. ;-)

    • Computer Exchange are breaking down bundles and selling the “not for resale” copies on their shelves. I wonder if that’s allowed?

What’s worse is, if you bought that game from them and then went back after finishing to trade in, they won’t accept those copies!

  3. Love Killzone. I thought Shadowfall was a great addition to the series. Graphics, Gameplay, Story and Online. All great! Well done GG :-)

    • I thought the campaign was disjointed and lacking unfortunately, but I think they have a little gem when it comes to multiplayer

    • The multiplayer is one of my games that I find it hard to keep away from, frustrating at times but great fun to play.

The main campaign I never got to grips with (eyesight issues) and stopped at the third level, I keep meaning to go back since the colour blind changes were made to see if that helps me out at all.

I wonder why so many people didn’t even try it when they got the bundle, it is an amazing looking game, that you cannot argue with.

  4. There certainly aren’t 2 million people on the multiplayer servers ;-)
I have always loved the KZ series and I’m pleased for GG that they have had this success, even if it is devalued a little by the bundle inclusion. As ever for the series, KZ has to suffer some sort of negativity / criticism no matter what it does but at least it’s making GG money (presumably) and hopefully they will support it for a good length of time.

  5. Wow, even if half of those were bundled in.

  6. Jolly good show!!!
