At their press conference this morning, Sony revealed their massive turnaround this generation for the PlayStation brand in the UK, achieved by some smart marketing and great decision making in the lead up to the PS4’s release.
Sony’s UK MD Fergal Gara talked of their wish to reclaim the UK market, as well as act like a new challenger, highlighting their OXO tower takeover as part of their overall strategy.
This means that while last generation the Xbox 360 was outselling the PS3 in the UK at a 1.51:1 ratio, Sony are now ahead with the PS4 outselling the Xbox One at a 3:2 (1.5:1) ratio.

They also suggested that a huge leap in PlayStation Plus subscribers – as you can see in the background of the photo from the event above – was due to not only the online play requirement, but also partly down to value which the service offers.
Before moving onto the Vita Slim reveal, Gara also repeated the 4.2 million sales figure, before emphasising that this is while being unable to meet the full demand and still having more markets – including Japan – to launch in.

Slightly suprised Microsoft is selling the Xbox One this well; last gen there was a realistic comparison between PS3/Xbox 360 – xbox was cheaper, but PS3 had blu-ray and the hype that cell would give better performance. This gen MS has weaker hardware, with a higher price..
Are people really that into Kinect ?
