Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes’ Campaign Is Under Two Hours Long

Game Informer revealed the cover of their next magazine today, and they have had an exclusive play of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the prologue to the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

“We had four hours of exclusive hands-on time with Ground Zeroes,” says Game Informer, continuing “which we used to play through the main mission and experiment with extra modes”. So, that’s four hours for the main story campaign and playing a few modes? That’s really not long at all.

What’s worse is that Kotaku are now reporting that the main mission is even shorter – Game Informer say within the latest issue of their magazine that they “completed it in just less than two hours”. Now, factor in Metal Gear Solid’s staple of long cutscenes and you’ve got a game that lasts about as long as the last cutscene segment in Metal Gear Solid 4. So, how much time of gameplay will that include?

Don’t forget that MGS V has a more open-world approach, so the side missions may be more substantial, but a less than two hour prologue including cutscenes is really disappointing.

Remember, they’re selling this for £30 on PS4 and Xbox One digitally, or the same on PS3 and Xbox 360 boxed. The last generation digital version will set you back a little less at £20, but it’s makes you wonder if they’re going to make an excuse to charge £100 for all of the content in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain when it releases.

  1. 2 hours? NO!

  2. I was going to cancel the preorder of Metal Gear Solid V but I haven’t even preorder. Too many unknowns, too little money.

  3. That doesn’t sound like a good deal.

  4. The next installment of the Metal Gear story will ship in two pieces: a teaser adventure dubbed Ground Zeroes, followed by a complete sequel titled The Phantom Pain.

  5. 20-30 for 2hrs;(
This news, the same day a Bioshock dev tweeted, that Burial at Sea Episode 2, will last around six hrs. There again, we don’t know the pricing.

MGS, my second fav franchise after GTA & would normally buy on release wk, but i’ll be waiting for a price drop, if said time is true.
