PS4 Headset Companion App Now Available

For those of you with Pulse Wireless Headsets, here’s a bit of good news. The companion app, that lets you set different audio profiles for different games, is now available for PlayStation 4.

You can grab it from the web store here and start tinkering to your heart’s content. Unfortunately, PlayStation fans in the UK still can’t buy the new 7.1 surround “Gold” headset that Sony is confusingly calling “Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0”. That was advertised as being out yesterday but we’ve been unable to find any UK retailer stocking it and we’ve heard no further news of it from Sony. It is available in other regions though, so maybe it’s just having trouble getting through the floods.

The companion app is totally free, as you would expect, and it also works with the GTA V branded Pulse units. Currently it has audio settings for “game, music, movie, shooter, fighting, techno, hip-hop, action and horror” with more promised soon. You can also can expect to see specific audio settings designed to get the absolute best from upcoming PlayStation games. Those should arrive around the same time as the games they cater for and will be visible within the app itself.

  1. Nice, will try this out later.

  2. I was trying to source these through distribution yesterday (for NoFi!)and Sony’s UK distribution team told me point blank – no plans to release. They didn’t even seem to know about it. :-(

    • yep, highly frustrating. thanks anyway dude.

      • Just import it!

        Hahahahahahaha

    • The lack of a clear message on the release of this product is a little worrying but apparently it actually releases in Europe on the 14th.
Amazon.it now has it for pre order. I ordered one just in case Amazon.de doesn’t follow up but I will cancel if it becomes available here in Germany.
With Express shipping from Italy it totals up to 105€. Apparently the headset should arrive by the 18th. Fingers crossed!
I finally want to play Outlast. I’ve been holding off because I want the full pants-crapping experience with the headset.

  3. Will be interesting to see how this battles with the PS3 app for control of the modes.

  4. I’ve been told by my local game store that they are receiving them this week

  5. Seen the headset on ebay for £150.

    • That is a lot! I bought it for 91,96 GBP (+4 GBP for shipping to Poland) from an online shop in Slovakia. New, sealed with 2 year warranty.

  6. Hello, long time lurker (to use the parlance of our times, I don’t lurk around in the shadows or bushes. Particularly often) first time poster, you can get them imported from Canada off amazon.co.uk:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Official-Gold-Wireless-Headset/dp/B00HVBPRUO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392130787&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+Wireless+Stereo+Headset+gold+ps4

Not sure if any import fees will have to be paid, but hope it’s helpful for those looking to order a set.

  7. i rang Loughborough Game store they said they are taking a £10 deposit to reserve the headset, but no idea when they are expecting the item to be available, also when come to buy the headset it is £79,99 even though paid the £10 deposit, explained that rrp is £79,99 but reasoning for the £10 increase was that depending on market availability of the headset will reflect what they will charge
