There was a recent PlayStation event in the US that showed off several upcoming PS4 delights. Among those was the first gameplay footage of The Order: 1886. Last night we saw some fairly jerky gifs and screengrabs that hinted at the visual spectacle of it. Now we have this leaked video.
We believe there is probably an embargo agreement in place with those who attended the event and it would appear that this has been broken to bring you these leaks. That embargo probably runs out later today, at 14:00 when we expect gameplay footage and an official trailer, as per PlayStationEU’s tweet below.

Hopefully that official video shows things off even better than this leaked one but it’s certainly looking quite stunning so far, isn’t it?

Wow.

Great stuff, going to be a day one buy I think.

QTE, button bashing, see they took away what they learnt from their God of war making days. In all fairness this could have been co op! I hate when the computer AI is my partner shooting all over the place not helping me
Bilbo_bobbins
Holy God, this looks superb. The cut scenes blend in to gameplay, it literally plays like a movie. God I can’t imagine what Uncharted would be like, if they can do this in the early stages of this generation.
Also chaps, the site is extremely slow for me at the moment. Taking ages to load up.

Looks great, and could be a nice historical action/adventure replacement for Assassins Creed since I’ve found that series to become a bit boring now.

Oh god… The guy’s voice!!? Nearly as annoying as PewDiePie.
Please don’t ever speak again. ;-)
f4rgo
Not just me then, had to mute he whole thing, very annoying. Great vid tho, looking forward to it.

I missed the details of what he was saying due to the squeakiness of it all. Airships squeak squeak weapons squeak squeak authentic ….

21:9 with black bars? I suppose that would make it look more cinematic. It also cuts down on how much the game has to render to the screen. Sneaky!
bunimomike
Just what I was thinking. Shame, really, as it’ll play into the hands of the resolution Nazis but there we go. The damn thing looks great, thankfully.

All developers are in this tricky balancing act of what they can and can’t get out of a machine. In this case, they decided that it would suit their visual art style to go for 21:9 and add extra effects layers while hitting the 30 frames per second mark, rather than losing certain effects and having 16:9 1080p at 30fps.
Each instance of this resolution/frame rate malarky is coming out slightly different depending on the decisions that devs are making.
bunimomike
Agreed, fella. It’s a juggling act. Always has been, always will be. There’s a certain amount they can push a particular resolution at a particular frame-rate and that’s where the X1 is coming undone. It’s trying to match the power of the PS4 and is struggling at every metaphorical turn. It’s fine in isolation but comparison leads to the lack of parity we’re seeing.

According to the developers, Ready at Dawn, rendering in this aspect ratio allows them to use 4x MSAA. Whereas a 16:9 full HD framebuffer would require a less taxing and less effective form of jaggie-b-gone.
Starman
Looks great. Though was hoping QTE’s were going to be left behind with last gen.
Andrewww
Are you trying to hype this game too..? ;o)
You’ve got a nice new avatar I have to say… ;o)
bunimomike
(10)80p, no less.

From what I can make out of the video with my crap office internet connection, this is looking pretty damn promising and looks like how I imagined a true next gen PS4 game should look.
You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.
