When it comes to so-called free-to-play games, while it was a model that I could see working for the likes of Candy Crush Saga and Plants vs. Zombies 2, I was struggling to see how it could well for a game of larger scope.
Warframe’s changed all that. In exchange for 150+ hours of entertainment, Digital Extremes have had a few tens of pounds from just because I felt that I owed them for all the enjoyment their game has given me.
The vast majority of the Platinum, the game’s paid-for currency, that this money has bought sits unused in my account because you truly do not really need to spend money to get along in the game or even get the best equipment.
I’ve used some for extra Warframe and weapon slots (which work out at about 80p and 25p, respectively) but if you’re happy with just a couple of Warframes and a handful weapons, which you can sell when you’ve ranked-up/got bored with them freeing up their slots, then even those extra slots are unnecessary.
The game’s even tempted me into using some of my Platinum for purely cosmetic items, which is something I’ve always said I wouldn’t do. If you haven’t yet given it a spin on your PS4 (or PC) then I can highly recommend it.
Call of Duty: Ghosts gets an “okay” rating from Aran, who enjoyed the “explosive set pieces” but thought that the “slow underwater mission” was more harmful than beneficial to the game’s overall pacing.
He’s almost completed his first pro season in NBA 2K14, but blames the team’s poor performance on the now-fired coach and is thinking of demanding a trade for himself. He also found time for a few hours of the “fantastic” South Park: The Stick of Truth which “captures the spirit of the show perfectly”.
Blair made it through the second episode of The Walking Dead Season 2 and says that he enjoyed it more than the first. Uni work has limited his play time this week but he’s played about an hour of Assassin’s Creed IV and “that was good”.
“A bit” of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes kept Stefan off the streets for a while this week. “Thankfully, there’s a lot more to it than a 90 minute run through, but you need to go find it to get the most out of the game.”
He contiued, “It also highlighted how comically bad I can be at stealth. I recently spent 2 hours playing a single mission of Splinter Cell: Blacklist with Bunimomike over and over and over, trying to get a perfect Ghost run… kind of fun to get there in the end, but I think we prefer the route of ridiculous shenanigans.”

And last but not least, bringing up the rear this week is Tuffcub who, it will come as no surprise to anyone who’s read a WWP before, has been playing Killzone: Shadow Fall with a little bit of Dead Nation thrown in for good measure.
Have any of you enjoyed a stealthy game of pass-the-parcel this week or were you too busy playing your videogames properly?

All PS4. Finished Lego Marvel and decided to take a break before attempting the extra bits & pieces. Standard Lego affair really. More time consuming than anything else.
Went back to Killzone single player, which I’d ignored after playing the first couple of average levels a few months back. But I’m glad I did. The next 3 missions have been brilliant. Really atmospheric and genuinely exciting. Especially enjoyed the hijacked trains and the Helghast slums/containers.
Someone on TSA mentioned the great Amazon price for Rayman Legends, so have ordered that too. On holiday from tomorrow though, so will arrive while I’m away.

Last night played ‘not playing COD4’ with Youles, Mcproley, & NO SHOW(formally known as Blackredyellow) ;P
Then a bit of Red Faction Armageddon.

Anyone seen the skins you can get for the PS4? Hotwire Graphics make them, the Atari & Spectrum one’s are wicked!

Finished off my good karma playthrough of Infamous last Sunday, got all the shards too, but can’t seem to find any enemies to finish off the stunts etc. Switched to Ghosts on PS4 for a bit, then returned to Infamous and started my evil, hard playthrough, focusing on the stunts and missing trophies (100 high falls etc).
Don’t think I’ll fit Infamous 2 in before Second Son though…

Shame. Infamous 2 is great!
hornet1990
Oh I fully intend to play it, it’ll just have to be post SS! I probably could start it before but then I think I might just get burnt out on Infamous, so I want to play something very different in between.

Good call. And it’s not like SS is the third part of a trilogy, so can play Infamous 2 after. I’m never too fussed about stuff like that anyway tbh. I can’t really think of any game’s story that has grabbed me like a film can. I always find them so cheesy and cliche I tend to switch off and by the end I couldn’t tell you what happened anyway! Yeah, I deffo don’t play games for their stories.

Tip for the stunts is to make sure you don’t capture every area on the map. If you do, there won’t be any enemies that spawn. So just be careful of that, and you can retry those trickier stunts a few times once you’re done.

Gah, I almost forgot about the stunts trophy in inFamous… They drove me bloody mad!

This week,I’ve been playing dead nation on PS4 and I’ve gone back to Ac Liberation on vita to get it finished off. So a pretty quiet week really.

I finally unlocked the third planet in SuperStardust – shameful really as i have the game since it launched :)
Also, in between far too much Minecraft, i’ve played most of TLoU dlc, about half of Dead Nation Apocalypse campaign, and i’ve dipped into Dark Mist, Stick it to the Man and the Treasures of Montezuma mini, all of which i picked up really cheap in the psn deals.
I also had another attempt at Killzone SW and after forty-five minutes and numerous deaths i was still stuck at the same checkpoint. :/

Ooh, Ground Zeroes news, can we expect a review before release?
I’ve mostly been playing Urban Trials and, whilst not as good as the classic 2D spongey Apple collect-em-up that I can never remember the name of, it’s very good and definitely has that one more go factor. On top of that it’s been Killzone Mercenary, thanks to Avengerr, McProley and Youles for making the effort with the meet! I’ll keep posting meets when I can play, in case anyone’s interested, cracking game and a must for any Vita owners, especially those who are fed up of losing miserably in Call of Duty or Battlefield, Mercs is surprisingly easy to get acceptable at.

Yeah. :)
I can’t remember the review embargo off hand, but we’ll have a review up whenever that is.

Can’t wait! Thanks :)

More EDF 2025 (finished easy and normal with the ranger so far, currently about 1/3rd of the way through hard).
Platinumed the Lego Movie – Videogame in a little over 13 hours (great game but severely lacking content).
More Diablo III, just because it’s fun.
Started South Park yesterday, it’s very enjoyable.

I’m about to build my 4th Warframe. I’ve sold 1. The free to play is perfect. I’ve put £10 in to support this brilliant title. Absolutely love this game.
I’ve fallen out with Dead Nation as it corrupted the save file and constantly kicks me after every level. Shame as I really enjoyed it on ps3.

I’ve been playing Warthunder, Battlefield 4 and a wee bit of Dead Nation with my nephew this week. Dead Nation was a lesson on frustration though as every time we tried to play online co-op, endless etc we kept getting network error a few minutes into the first level.
As for single player I’ve been playing through Tomb Raider as I want to finish it so that I can start South Park.
