When it comes to so-called free-to-play games, while it was a model that I could see working for the likes of Candy Crush Saga and Plants vs. Zombies 2, I was struggling to see how it could well for a game of larger scope.
Warframe’s changed all that. In exchange for 150+ hours of entertainment, Digital Extremes have had a few tens of pounds from just because I felt that I owed them for all the enjoyment their game has given me.
The vast majority of the Platinum, the game’s paid-for currency, that this money has bought sits unused in my account because you truly do not really need to spend money to get along in the game or even get the best equipment.
I’ve used some for extra Warframe and weapon slots (which work out at about 80p and 25p, respectively) but if you’re happy with just a couple of Warframes and a handful weapons, which you can sell when you’ve ranked-up/got bored with them freeing up their slots, then even those extra slots are unnecessary.
The game’s even tempted me into using some of my Platinum for purely cosmetic items, which is something I’ve always said I wouldn’t do. If you haven’t yet given it a spin on your PS4 (or PC) then I can highly recommend it.
Call of Duty: Ghosts gets an “okay” rating from Aran, who enjoyed the “explosive set pieces” but thought that the “slow underwater mission” was more harmful than beneficial to the game’s overall pacing.
He’s almost completed his first pro season in NBA 2K14, but blames the team’s poor performance on the now-fired coach and is thinking of demanding a trade for himself. He also found time for a few hours of the “fantastic” South Park: The Stick of Truth which “captures the spirit of the show perfectly”.
Blair made it through the second episode of The Walking Dead Season 2 and says that he enjoyed it more than the first. Uni work has limited his play time this week but he’s played about an hour of Assassin’s Creed IV and “that was good”.
“A bit” of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes kept Stefan off the streets for a while this week. “Thankfully, there’s a lot more to it than a 90 minute run through, but you need to go find it to get the most out of the game.”
He contiued, “It also highlighted how comically bad I can be at stealth. I recently spent 2 hours playing a single mission of Splinter Cell: Blacklist with Bunimomike over and over and over, trying to get a perfect Ghost run… kind of fun to get there in the end, but I think we prefer the route of ridiculous shenanigans.”

And last but not least, bringing up the rear this week is Tuffcub who, it will come as no surprise to anyone who’s read a WWP before, has been playing Killzone: Shadow Fall with a little bit of Dead Nation thrown in for good measure.
Have any of you enjoyed a stealthy game of pass-the-parcel this week or were you too busy playing your videogames properly?

Work has been absolutely manic this week so haven’t managed to fit a lot of gaming in…
I did manage to polish off another 2 old, straightforward platinums though, namely Trivial Pursuit and Trine 2, to make 8 in 7 weeks… Nearly 30 in total!
God, I can’t wait for inFamous SS and Final Fantasy X HD – I badly need some new games to play! Part of me wishes the PS2 had trophies though… I ploughed 150+ hrs into FFX back in the day and would’ve bagged the platinum :-( ah well, it’s a good thing I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Impatiently waiting for my South Park: The Stick of Truth to arrive, we’ll do a live let’s play – meaning I’ll force my friends to come sit by me while I play it and let the in on the decision-making in the game.
In the meantime I picked up NBA2k14 again, what amazing fun on court. Even more than how crappy and broken it is/has been off court. Started MyPlayer again after I couldn’t retrieve my save from the server and patiently waited during all those cutscenes for whatever crazy reason you can’t skip. Still, gorgeous game on court.
I’m quite happy about all the couch co-op supporting games we’ve lately been getting for the PS4. I tried Dead Nation for a couple games and it does look nice. My girlfriend and I are in for a treat with that and the Awesomenauts game.
I also found out that this week that I have Hashimoto’s disease, which is a relief and explains why I’ve been so sick over the last 1.5 years, so all the doctors appointments are kept me from gaming more this week. I was going to check out the ESO beta properly (after downloading 40gb!) but could only do so for about an hour and I didn’t enjoy it at all. It was pretty boring and didn’t look appealing at all, I’m sure it gets better but now I know it’s not for me.

If they can forgive the typos in the above post, could someone who owns Sp: The Stick of Truth for PS3 let me know if they can take screenshots in the game?

Unfortunately not. Would have been nice but I don’t think any devs bother with it anymore … not that many used it before.

Thanks for the reply. I knew it was a long shot anyway. I would’ve gotten this for PC if I didn’t specifically want the trophies. Screenshots would just make it much more fun for me.

Nothing major this week. Played a little Warframe since the update and appreciate the new changes and trophies. Haven’t gotten into it too much yet as I would rather playthrough it with some friends, but its certainly an enjoyable game for a F2P title.
Other than that, I reached my 400 challenges on Killzone SF, briefly tried Peggle 2’s new Duel Mode and started Dead Nation. All very enjoyable.

The title pretty much sums up what ive been playing. Trying to get more and more into Warframe. Its good, but if your not on with a dedicated team, its some times hard to carry on with the levels you need to do, as noone else is playing the same levels means you have to do it on your own. I also find the levelling up of your character is annoying as its so slow. Im still only level two but can do levels that suggest a level of 12-15.
Klart
I think those suggestions are for your Warframe level, not your general level?

Warframe is really a fantastic gem you at least have to try. I jumped in not expecting anything, but got so hooked I can’t put it down. It really is not that needed to pay for platinum since everything can be achieved by hard work, but I also just had to support the developers so bought some for extra Warframe and weapons slots (75% of the bought platinum still sits in my account since I really don’t need to buy more and I love the challenge of getting it by doing missions)

Another recommendation for Warframe: it’s a wonderfully good & fun FTP game. Try it!
