The fireworks have gone off, the TSA staff have sung the national anthem and the opening ceremony has come to a close, which can only mean one thing, it’s time to get the inaugural TSA FUT competition up and running!
This week will see each of you playing two matches against one of your group opponents, as outlined in the fixtures below. I’ve created a forum thread for you all here to make it easier for you all to arrange your matches and discuss the games.
Before we get into the fixtures we’ve put together some simple rules and guidelines for you all, to try and make this run as smoothly as possible.
Rules & Guidelines
- Once you’ve played your matches, please post the results of both games in the forum thread here.
- You have until 6pm on Tuesday 15th April to play this week’s fixtures and post your results in the forum.
- If you haven’t already, please add all players from your group as a friend on PSN.
- To arrange your fixtures, please use a combination of the comments section of this article, PSN messages and the forum thread. Using all three methods should give the best chances of getting your matches arranged without problems.
- If for whatever reason it is not possible to get your match arranged, please notify us as soon as possible by posting either in the comments here or in the forum thread.
- We really hope nobody suffers from disconnection issues, but if any of you do, please try and settle this between yourselves amicably. If agreement cannot be reached, please post full details in the forum thread and we will take it from there.
- There are no restrictions whatsoever on the teams a player can field so feel free to put your best team out for each match.
- Please try to keep your games as fair as possible by not using ability boosters on your players.
- Use the PS4 share button liberally. Take lots of screenshots of stats, results screens, team sheets etc, these will all be helpful for the weekly articles.
- Most of all, have fun!

A couple of questions, I have multiple UT squads, can I switch throughout the tournament, so can I play one person with 1 squad and another with the other? And for the 1st and 2nd leg of games with one person do I have to use the same squad for both? Thanks
tonycawley
Nope, feel free to use whatever squad, formation etc you want in any game you want.
jonny_bolton
I’m not completely au fait with FUT but what does “Squads” entail?
Is this two separate teams or a single team with a roster of like 50 players? Just wanted to check as my only concern would be the advantages of using two teams with regards to fitness.
Obviously apologies if I’ve just got terminology confused. This is the first game I’ve bothered with FUT
BrendanCalls
Hi SpaaarKY, I’m away till Sunday. But I’m available anytime after then really. So whenever is good for you after that
Spaaarky
lol I’m free from now Until 6pm sunday as i work sunday through to thursdays. So let me know what time you can fit in on a sunday or monday, also what time zone are you in? I’m in the UK
BrendanCalls
Yeah I’m UK. Sunday anytime that’s not between the Liverpool – City game ;-)
Amphlett
Thank you for the promotion from reserves to group stages, just like being picked for the team at school!
I’ve checked over the trophy levels of the 3 players in my group and, to be honest, not wanting to brag or big myself up but, I’m going to slaughter them!!!! EASY! EASY!
Yung Jones
The pressure’s on you to slaughter us all now big man! ;)
Taylor Made
Lol how does this help u beat someone cause of trophy level, my level is 21 but I suck at FIFA
Amphlett
A little friendly ‘trash talk’ my friend, that’s all it is.
For the record, I played both games against Yung Jones last night and he beat me in both games.
Roynaldo
Is it possible to jump the gun a bit as my schedule is pretty difficult to work with. I have 4 days off soon and would like to maybe get in 2 rounds of fixtures.
Stefan L
If the others in your group are happy with that then yeah, I don’t see why not. :)
jimmy-google
As long as I’m free I’ve no problem losing matches early.
Roynaldo
OK cheers guys.
Jimmy- I messaged the other guys last night saying I’m free from Fri evening to Tuesday evening. If you have some free time and I’m online then message me mate.
Amphlett
Yung Jones (YungJones) – I’m happy to play most evenings after around 8:30pm (the later in the evening I play the worse I get and it has nothing to do with glasses of wine).
Yung Jones
Sure that’s no problem, got some work due in on Friday so the earlier the better for me tbh. I’m around this evening if you are, anyway i’m sure we’ll sort it over PSN messages or something.
baggyg
Hi @wick15
We’re already friends so contact me through PSN if that’s easiest. I can usually schedule in a game on most days as its only 12 minutes (of frantic button pressing)
wick15
Hey man. You around tomorrow evening for our games? I’m away tonight and won’t be back till tomorrow. If anything suits you better let me know, I’m free most times.
baggyg
Yeah I’ll be around tomorrow evening. Generally any time is fine… just let me know during the day or something.
jonny_bolton
As mentioned previously, I should be getting my BT Infinity installed on Friday so, baring any hitches, I can play my game from then onwards.

If anyone is able to do live streaming, it would certainly be entertaining to watch some TSA’ers battle it out on the playing field. I’m not usually a fan of watching football, but this would definitely be entertaining. Aside from that, alas all I can do in this competition is wish the competitors good luck.
McProley
Good idea mate. I’m in the same boat as you, i don’t usually watch football anymore but I’d be well up for watching some of these matches :)
tonycawley
Aye, this is a really good idea. Once you’ve arranged your time, if you’re happy for people to watch post your match time and link to the stream in the forum thread and press the share button before kick off. Good plan!
Blair Inglis
We can also tweet from the TSA account if you message one of us. Get me on twitter @mynameisblair.
Could even do a live final!

As per the forum, my thoughts on disconnections:
Regarding disconnection disputes would a fair rule not be to restore the scoreline and the minute disconnected.
I.e. Team A 2 – 1 Team B
Disconnect happened in 50th minute
Therefore start again and score own goals to restore 2-1 and then wait until the 50th minute to resume?
It would be good if this could be an agreed rule for all participants. Disconnections are rare in my experience (and 95% because the person is losing), but they do happen. I am not sure in playing a friends squad whether FIFA adjudicates the winner (like it does in league mode).
This way there would be less to argue about, and no one could argue it is unfair to either team.
tonycawley
I like this idea, but as it says in the article just keep it as a gentleman’s agreement, so if that’s what you decide should this happen to you, then good. It does seem the fairest way.
wick15
Are away goals in play? Just wondering since it’s a Champions League style tourney.
Ro6afc11
It’s possible later on I guess (but I doubt it). For now it’s the group stages so the games are 2 independent group games with 6 points up for grabs as opposed to a 2 legged match.
tonycawley
Away goals count for nothing at this stage, it’s literally just 2 matches played, same as any league format.
baggyg
Knock out stages this does become an issue as also does the issue of a draw (since FIFA won’t do penalties).
GazPhillips
Been trying to sort out my games with MrJaggySnake but to no avail..
I know the cut off is today at 6 but I think he said he can play tonight ( can’t play during the day as I have work ) …
I’m looking forward to my other games tho , hopefully I can still qualify for next rounds even if we can’t count these two games?
