This week saw the round of 16 matches played in the TSA Ultimate Team competition. There were some really tight matches and congratulations must go out to all for doing such a good job of getting their matches played on time. You’re all doing a great job of making the organisation of this tournament easy and stress free!
Below you’ll find match reports for each of the tie and the tournament tree for how the rest of the competition will pan out. As announced last week, the winner from the first pair will now play the winner of the second pairing, the third will play the fourth and so on.
Please try and get your matches for the quarter finals played by 6pm on Tuesday 13th May.
Match 1 Amphlett Vs Loay123
In match 1 Amphlett won 4-2 to take the early advantage in the tie. For match 2 Loay needed to win 2-0 or better and scored an early goal to give him hope but Amphlett defended like Chelsea under Mourinho to hold on and the match finished 1-0.
Final aggregate score Amphlett 4-3 Loay123.
Match 2 Crazy_Del Vs Baggyg (baggyg187)
Match 1 saw Baggyg take the 2-0 victory with a late goal from a header off a corner. Match 2 saw Cazy_Del take an early lead to give him hope but Baggyg played counter attacking football and hit Del twice on the break to end up winning the match 2-1.
Final aggregate score Crazy_Del 1-4 Baggyg (baggyg187)
Match 3 Wick15 Vs YungJones
In match 1 YungJones took an early 2-0 lead but Wick15 pulled one back quickly. At this point Yung went on the defensive playing counter attacking football and managed to use this tactic to score a third and take the tie to 3-1 after the first match. In the second match YungJones once again took an early 2-0 but Wick came back hard forcing Yung’s goalie into multiple saves. Despite Wick’s dominance in the second match he couldn’t find the back of the net and the match finished 2-0.
Final aggregate score Wick15 1-5 YungJones
Match 4 GazPhillips (Gazaldo) Vs Hennerzcfc
In match 1 GazPhillips says everything he tried came off and he managed to pull off a 5-1 victory at home. In the second match Hennerzcfc came back hard and played attacking football to win 3-1 but couldn’t quite manage to do enough to qualify.
Final aggregate score GazPhillips (Gazaldo) 6-4 Hennerzcfc
Match 5 xxAlisha1995xx (x-alisha-xx-1995) Vs XBLakie_ChanX
Not much of a match write-up in the forums sadly for this one so I’ll pass you over to Alisha’s description “Just played Blakie. The first game was 3-3 and the second game was 2-0 to Blakie so he goes through on aggregate, thanks for the tournament guys! :)” So I guess that’s that for Alisha’s hopes, as XBLakie_ChanX qualifies.
Final aggregate score xxAlisha1995xx (x-alisha-xx-1995) 3-5 XBLakie_ChanX
Match 6 BlackRedYellow Vs Roynaldo
In match 1 BlackRedYellow won 2-1 with Roynaldo scoring a late goal to give himself a decent chance of qualification in the second match. In match 2 Roynaldo came out all guns blazing and quickly established a 3-0 lead. BRY pulled one back but Roynaldo scored another to take it to 4-1 and held that for the aggregate win.
Final aggregate score BlackRedYellow 3-5 Roynaldo
Match 7 Jimmy-Google Vs Dellboy1983
I watched this tie as Jimmy was kind enough to stream over Twitch and I’m so glad I did. In match 1 Dellboy won comfortably 3-1, meaning that Jimmy had a lot to do to turn the tie around.
In match 2 Dellboy scored a further 3 goals to take the tie to 6-1 overall and leaving me thinking it was all over. Jimmy had other ideas though and scored 4 very quick 2nd half goals to take the tie to 6-5, he only needed one more to secure qualification but despite a few good efforts just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net again. A valiant attempt at a comeback and came so close to completing it!
Final aggregate score Jimmy-Google 5-6 Dellboy1983
Match 8 BerackyWack Vs nidasbym (murgia_martin)
In match 1 nidasbym accidentally used ability boosters on his players which are barred from this competition so we’ve decided a rematch is needed for that one. In the second game nidasbym was playing at home and secured the 3-1 win. This means that BerackyWack will have to win 2-0 in his home match to qualify, or if nidasbym scores, then BerackyWack will need at least 3 to give himself a chance of qualification.
Final aggregate score result still pending but nidasbym leads 3-1.
This makes the knockout round table look like this:
So the Quarter-Final matches are as follows:
Quarter-Final 1: Amphlett vs. Baggyg (baggyg187)
Quarter-Final 2: YungJones vs. GazPhillips (Gazaldo)
Quarter-Final 3: XBLakie_ChanX vs. Roynaldo
Quarter-Final 4: Dellboy1983 vs. [BerackyWack or nidasbym (murguia_martin)]
Though there are no runners up and group winners, the Round of 16 draw did also determine the supposed order of play for the Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals, which comes into focus should it be an aggregate draw over the course of the two matches. However, just as before, there’s some leeway on this one.
Strictly by the numbers, it should go as follows:
- Both players host a match, thereby playing a match at home and a match away. The odd numbered match winner hosts first and the even numbered winner second.
- If the scores are tied after both matches, the player with the most away goals goes through.
- If away goals are tied, and because FIFA UT won’t go to extra time and penalties, a run-off match is played in, hosted by the even numbered winner in the pair, but with no away goal rule. It’s winner takes all!
- If even that is tied, keep playing with Golden Goal rules and the next goal wins.
Now, as I said, you have a certain flexibility to the rules. If you want to be as authentic to the Champions League inspired format as possible, then follow the format outlined above as closely as possible. However, it doesn’t have to be. as long as both players agree,we will happily accept for matches to be played out of order, or for one person to host both matches and then have the first to be designated as the runner up’s home match and the second for the group winner’s home match.
Finally, a little reminder that, in the interests of fairness, ability boosters are not allowed in this tournament. If your opponent uses them, point it out and replay the match.
Good luck to everyone in their matches this coming week!

Roynaldo
Not looking forward to my next one. Nerves are setting in. Blakie chan… Can you add me please. ID the same as on here. Will hopefully get them played Saturday or Sunday afternoon if both available.
Well done again everyone who made it through.
tonycawley
Well they should be good ties mate, everyone who remains in the competition is here through merit, in my mind there are no favorites now, everyone is clearly competent and every tie could go either way.
Good luck to all that remain, after this set of matches there will be only 4 left!
Crazy_Del
Ooohhh Roynaldo v BlakieChan will be a good game that!
Congrats to those that are through and unlucky to others including me but I really did enjoy playing this competition, all in good fun :)
Now to watch my favourite team on the telly shortly xD
baggyg
Good to see that in every tie both teams scored. Looks like the talent is converging. Should make for some interesting matches in the quarter finals.
Amphlett
I’ve posted a broadband connection issue in the forum. Please let me know if you would accommodate a slight delay in me playing ‘baggyg’.
