Encounter Native Alaskan Tales In Never Alone For PS4, Xbox One & PC

A new title has caught my eye today and that Upper One’s Never Alone, which is about a girl called Nuna and Fox, her companion as they travel through the Alaskan wildnerness. Never Alone has quite the unique angle in that the story uses Iñupiaq, an indigenous tribe of Alaska, stories and folklore. Upper One is a studio funded by the Cook Inlet Tribal Council based in Anchorage. The stories that have inspired the game have been passed down through thousands of years by word of mouth, and it’s really the first time that they would reach a global audience.

Game wise Never Alone will have eight chapters, will have co-op multiplayer, and will include interactions with Alaska Native story characters like Manslayer, Sky People and the Rolling Heads. There will also be insight into these characters and more told by the native people. It looks like a rather interesting platformer, and it is launching this autumn on PS4, Xbox One and PC, with the current US price of $14.99.

  1. Reminded me of Limbo. Looked interesting though.

    • I agree. Looks like a very much more appealing version of Limbo. I hope the story is as good as the visuals and the game length will be satisfying, because I think this is the main problem with such “art pieces” of indie games – beautiful, but often simply to short.

  2. That looks beautiful! Definitely one I’ll be keeping an eye on

  3. If it’s like Limbo, I’ll definitely get it, hopefully it doesn’t go too artsy fartsy an become another Journey.

  4. Yeah, definite Limbo similarities. Will defo give this a go.

  5. Clearly minty.. :)
Looks gorgeous, similar to Limbo but not as dark in tone.

  6. Loved the voice and words spoken. Fascinating to listen to. Also, the charming story unfolding and how the general vibe of the game looked. Very, very interested.

  7. Games like this, Rain, The unfinished Swan, Journey, Flower, Limbo and more, is why I make more purchases (and perhaps spend more money) on PSN than I do buying physical copies.
