More Diablo III PS4 Gameplay Footage Out, Vita Acts As Additional Controller For Multiplayer

VG247 has got their hands on Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition for PS4, which comes with the Reaper of Souls expansion, and have created an almost nine minute long video showing how the game runs on Sony’s console. It’s looking rather nice running smoothly as enemies are hacked away for loot. The video also features a third player jumping in using the Vita as a third controller so if you own one of those, as well as other controllers, then multiplayer away. Of course like all PS4 releases remote play is supported too.

There is some concern around the patching of Diablo III post launch on consoles, with Blizzard themselves unsure of what is going on. We do know that the console version of the game will release with patch 2.0.5, and on one a download will be available for 2.0.6. However the PC version has received patch 2.1, so we’ll have to wait to see if that comes to any of the console versions after release.

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition launches August 19th on PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

  1. Can we stop saying it comes with an expansion? An expansion would be something you can download separately to play with the base game. It may or may not also be bundled with a newer edition of the game (often as some “game of the year” edition, seemingly based on the fact that a bloke in the pub said it was his favourite game of the year, sometime around February).

In this case, it’s definitely not an expansion. It’s a whole new version of the game with extra stuff. As someone who bought the game months ago and enjoyed it a lot (that Platinum trophy was lots of fun to earn), it’s kind of a bit shitty that I can’t buy the extra stuff on it’s own. I’ll just have to piss off Blizzard by buying a second hand copy when it’s nice and cheap, so they get no money for it.

I’d have happily paid for it if they’d release it on it’s own, but that doesn’t seem to be happening. I’d even pay to upgrade my PS3 version to the new PS4 version if that was an option too.

  2. Very, very, very excited for the release of Diablo 3 on PS4. I’ll be sat here working away waiting for the that familiar drop of a parcel through my letterbox, and then sneaking an hour two away from work…

    • Anyone wanting to join a troupe for some online co-op please let me know. PSN ID Amphlett.

      • i might be up for that, really looking forward to this aswell

  3. So is Diablo a local co op game? If not please someone explain the vita’s role in this game besides remote play

    • The Vita is just used to remote control the PS4 over the internet with it’s own screen. So the video was basically all PS4’s playing online together but one guy was using a Vita to remote control his PS4.

  4. I may just get this, even though i played through it on PS3.

  5. I use to love playing coop Champions Of Norrath on the PS2. It was a lot of fun and my first introduction to the wonders of coop multiplayer gameplay. I watched this Diablo 3 video with interest because I knew the games were similar, but I’m somehow disappointed with the genre. Games have come a long way since Champions Of Norrath but Diablo 3 looks exactly the same.

Looking at it now, the gameplay looks extremely linear and repetitive to my eyes. Maybe I’ve just grown older and moved on. I was going to buy Diablo 3 out of nostalgia but I’d never play it because it just cannot compete with the likes Skyrim even though it ran crap on PS3. And games like Uncharted, The Last Of Us, Far Cry 3, GTA5 and Assassin’s Creed 4 just walk all over it. Diablo 3 looks extremely primitive in comparison. I’ll spend my money on the epic TLOU_GTAV_Metro remasters, Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed Unity.
