Reams Of PS4 Games Added To PlayStation Store Summer Sale

The Summer Sale kicked off on the PlayStation Store last week, but after three quarters of a year on sale, there was a fairly surprising dearth of PlayStation 4 games included. There was tons of stuff for PS3 and PS Vita, but only EA showed up with discounts on Sony’s latest and greatest. This week puts that to rest.

38 PS4 games have gone on sale, ranging from big retail releases to smaller indie games. Admittedly, the games that have a retail release, like Bound by Flame or the LEGO games, are going to struggle to match the price of a physical disc, and a lot of the games here have featured in the PlayStation Plus Instant Games Collection, but this could be a good opportunity to catch up.

My highlights would be Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes at a much more palatable £15.99/€19.99, Transistor, which comes down to £11.59/€14.49, and Trials Fusion, which drops to £11.99/€14.99. Each has a PS+ discount, but while Transistor and Trials have 10% off, Ground Zeroes’ 25% discount means that this offer might just about be the lowest price it has ever been.

These offers will run until 20th August, but don’t forget that the PS3 and PS Vita offers that started last week are set to run out this Friday, 8th August.

  1. MGS: Ground Zeroes has got to be worth £12, right?

    • Exactly! I’ve been waiting on such a price drop. Think I’ll consider the length of the game more worth it now

      • I gave up waiting and my retail copy turned up yesterday…

    • Right. That’s a very reasonable price.

  2. £12 for mgs? Sold!

  3. Some fairly good deals there. MGS: Ground Zeroes is good for £12 and £4 for Stick it to the Man is well worth picking up if you didnt get it from Plus. Quite an enjoyable little game that.

  4. Might just have to pick up that Pinball Arcade bundle. I guess that’s £5.84. Or 53p each to upgrade the 11 table packs I’ve already paid for ages ago but which they didn’t do as a cross buy thing. I think that’s a bargain.

And there’s a certain amount of Dynasty Warriors related temptation there as well. Hmm.

  5. Bugger all there for me as far as I can see. The discounts just aren’t great enough.

    I am however confused by these entries;

    Pinball Arcade: Season 1 Bundle
    Was £24.99/€29.99/AU$44.95, now £11.99/€14.99/AU$22.95
    10% additional PS Plus discount

Pinball Arcade: Season 1 Bundle (Discounted)
    Was £11.99/€14.99/AU$22.95, now £6.49/€7.99/AU$11.95
    10% additional PS Plus discount

What’s the difference (apart from the clear difference in cost of course!)??

    • I think it is, and I could be very wrong, you get the discounted rate if you bought Season 1 on the PS3 already. Not cross buy like Zen Pinball, but discount for double dipping.

      • Double dipping eh? Sounds messy.

    • The discounted bundle is for people who bought all the tables for the PS3/Vita. The PS4 version isn’t cross-buy, but you get a discount on the PS4 versions. If you own them all already. That’s everything up to the Attack from Mars & Genie tables. If you don’t own the original game and those first 10 lots of DLC, you can’t purchase the discounted PS4 bundle.

Bit of a bargain either way, really. Although if you’re missing a single table pack on the PS3/Vita, you might want to buy that first then upgrade to the discounted PS4 bundle. (Two or more missing table packs, and you can buy the full price PS4 bundle, unless you want to play them on the PS3/Vita as well)

  6. Great to see a decent PS4 sale, now just have to decide between MGS GZ or Rayman Legends.. decisions.. decisions :)

    • Rayman Legends has been sub £20 in shops for some time now, so that isn’t actually too much of a bargain.

MGS I have no idea about though – It holds zero interest for me, so I have never even looked at it for long enough to clock the price (apart from having some knowledge that its horrendously overpriced for the amount of content you get).

      • Rayman Legends is around €30 secondhand in my area so it’s a fair deal for me.
I do want to play MGS GZ but i still think Rayman will be better value.

      • Yeah admittedly, my euro to sterling conversion knowledge is not good, but I think that’s around £23/£24 or so (I think).

No idea what it would be in euro’s, but I see it preowned in game for £17.99 pretty regularly & Amazon seem to have second hand copies for around £20 (once P&P have been added). That said, I suppose it is only a couple of quid adrift & you may prefer a digital version anyway, so this may all be guff! :)

      • On top of the euro conversion, we also have less retailers some of whom are quite unscrupulous with their preowned pricing… the bastards. :)

      • Rayman is the better game, but if you own a PS3, 360 or Wii U you can probably get it even cheaper and it’s identical.

      • Hmm.. good point Kenny.. i’ll spend some time with the plus freebies before i decide.

  7. Is this really a sale? I know all the games are l less than 12 months old but nothing here for me.

  8. Great sale. I want the KZ Season Pass to go on offer at some point though :)

  9. Crap game, was £12, now £6! Yeah, nothing for me either.

  10. Also in the contents on Ps blog is says something about Octodad being cheap too.

    • Copied straight from comments.

      Jawad Ashraf 6 August, 2014 @ 11:45 am 44
Octodad will also be going on sale tomorrow. Keep on eye out for it.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch (Discount goes live 7th August)
      Was £11.49/ €13.99/ $20.95 Now £7.39/ €8.99/ $13.45
Additional 20% discount for PS Plus members

Please also note there may be a delay in getting Trials Fusion updated, but so please keep an eye out for when this does take place.

      Enjoy

      • I would probably argue that it’s cheaper not so much cheap. ;)

      • yes Forrest its still too expensive for an hours game and it’ll probably be free next month.
