White Paper Games has released information on Ether One, a game that launched in March on PC and is coming to PS4. Instead of being a direct port the developers are rebuilding the game for PS4 in Unreal Engine 4, which will let you explore a game world with higher detail. The story and motivation behind the development of Ether One is one that may resonate with many, as it explores the impact of dementia.
Family members of the development team have had the misfortune of suffering from dementia, and White Paper Games had the aim of helping gamers relate to those who have experienced the disease. In Ether One players explore the minds of those with the illness and aim to restore the memories to cure the individual. However players have the option of just going through the landscape without solving the puzzles, though you do get more information the more engaged you are.
There’s no release date yet for the PS4 version.

This sounds quite interesting. My mother has well developed Alzheimer’s and I find really hard and frustrating to understand truly. I hate it and really hurts. It’s gotta be one of the worst ways to die.
Nate
Having a grandfather with advanced Alzheimer’s, I can empathise with how hard it is to see someone you love become slowly lost. It is a cruel illness. Having worked in elderly care medicine, I also have a reasonable understanding of the disease and the sorts of support available. If you have any questions or anything you wanted to talk about feel free to PM me.

Thanks Nate.
Jones81 it does really hurt. My Father died of cancer which was far less painful. I’m not saying cancer was painless but at least he was himself until his death. But hey we must survive and carry on.

Also I forgot to say I’m sorry to hear your pain Nate. I will sport you too if you need it.

I didn’t experience it first hand but my grandfather , a strong farming man who was never sick a day in his life and fathered twelve children, was reduced to being as helpless as an infant at the end. My mother and her siblings pulled together to give him as much quality of life as possible but they cried and cried to see their father like that.
As she get’s older my mother increasingly worries that the same will happen to her and i have to say it’s crossed my mind that it could happen to me too.
Definitely an interesting and worthwhile concept for a game and i’ll be keeping an eye out for it.

Sorry to hear about your Grandfather. My 1 tip I would advise to you if your mother start to go make sure somebody gets power of attorney. As it is near enough impossible to get them to do anything that’s good for them.

Had experience with this with my Gran. Horrible way to pass away. She was a shell by the time she died.
Will support this when it releases.
