Nippon Ichi Software has confirmed the existence of Disgaea 5, and it appears the next entry to the series will be releasing exclusively on the PS4. At the moment all we know is that the game will be releasing in 2015, and so far a Japanese release is the only one confirmed. However since the other games in the series have eventually made it to North American and European, it won’t be surprising to see Disgaea 5 appear around six months to a year later.
As we get more information about Disgaea 5 we’ll update, but if you’re a fan of the series are you happy with this announcement?

With the power of the PS4, that means they can update everything to PS3 graphics! Yay!
I’m predicting about a billion hours worth of game, plenty of exploding penguins, a couple of hundred bits of DLC, and totally unnecessary use of the word “dood”.
Which once again is missing from the story. How can you report on a Disgaea game and not use the word dood? It’s the law!

Well obviously I know they’re called prinnies, dood! But they look like penguins to me. Sort of weird, blue penguins, but still a penguin.

disgaea 5 has been known about for a long time however when they said it was in development they were also going on about the anniversary game Disgaea D2, of course it turns out the real reason they wouldnt say anything about it was because its on ps4 and that hadn’t been confirmed yet.
i wouldnt personally expect any info on an english release any time soon especially since nis america only just launched disgaea 4 on vita. Dood

Disgaea games don’t take that long to escape Japan, do they? Based on previous games, it should arrive here late next year. Possibly. And a Vita version of D2 coming sometime after that. Seems to be how it’s worked so far.
At worst, early 2016 for us to get 5, and D2 on the Vita a few months later.
On the plus side, we’re pretty much guaranteed to get it here. Unlike some other games announced recently. (Could we get the last couple of Yakuza games before they start announcing even more? No, didn’t think so)

disgaea d2 was the quickest from my personal experience but thats presumably because it was for the anniversary of nis and disgaea, personally im expecting 5 for around early november for english release especially with the popularity on the rise the demand for quick localisation is also higher. we probably wont see d2 on vita until 2016 in japan due to it then being the 10 year anniversary of the orginal disgaea’s re-release on psp, 2017 would then be english release of d2 provided they wanted to keep with the anniversary concept
