Update: NIS America got in touch and has given a reason for the delay:
Unfortunately, there was an unforeseen production issue which resulted in the delay of Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance all across Europe.
Original Story:
NIS America has announced that Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance will release on October 16th in Europe, ten days after the RPG releases in North American stores. A reason for the date change has not been given as of yet, though since it is only a few weeks away it likely isn’t anything major. The most obvious reason would be issues with shipping the physical versions, as there may be a delay there.
We would like to announce that Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, will have a new release date of 16 October 2015

If you can’t wait there is actually a demo available now on PSN, and should you buy the full game all data will carry over. Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance is the first game from the Disgaea series to come to PS4, and it will be released exclusively on Sony’s console.

That demo appears to be the whole of chapter 1. Worryingly, there’s only 4 fights, where every previous game has had 5 or 6 stages per chapter.
I’m liking the look of the new quests feature though. Might give more of a goal while grinding away for hours levelling up to silly numbers.
Also, please correct your story. There isn’t a single use of the word “dood”, which is compulsory for all Disgaea news.

Duly noted. Small change made.

Now go and stack yourself on top of 9 other people and get thrown across the room. Dood.

Technically it’s 5 fights in the first chapter food, however since it’s always the tutorial chapter it’s ok for it to be shorter than normal, plus there appears to be a lot of planets to switch between so I’m guessing there’s a lot of chapters which makes up for shorter chapters
MrYd
You appear to be correct. There are more chapters than normal. 16 instead of 10. So the main game may actually be longer than the previous ones.
Which is weird, because the main story is just a tutorial, really, before you get to the all the stuff afterwards that takes up hundreds of hours. Seems odd to make that even longer.
And the character world thing is odd this time. It’s turned into some sort of board game? (It’s not accessible in chapter 1, so not in the demo)
As long as the item world is there for endless diving into dungeons. And quite probably a lot easier to see what’s going on with the improved graphics. (Item worlds in the previous games could get frustraitingly chaotic)
Dood.

Well since disgaea 4 they have been making the games more accessible to people who’ve never played them, disgaea d2 is arguably the easiest game they have done with high stats not requiring as much of a grind as normal. I have avoided watching Japanese play through’s to avoid having new features etc spoiled for me.
I’m also ashamed autocorrect changed my first posts dood into food and I didn’t even notice. Dood
MrYd
D2 had a horrible spike in difficulty at the end of the story though, after being a bit too easy. The last fight, with enemies down the side you can’t reach (except with guns) and a nasty effect down the middle. And if you’ve not been grinding by then, just rushing to get the story out of the way before the realy game starts, you’re not strong enough.
So a few trips into item world, you manage to do it, get healed and chucked straight into the “final” boss and get instantly slaughtered.
Possibly the problem is that in previous games, I died on certain fights, got a bad ending, and started all over again, flying through the early stages and levelling up enough by the end.
I think they’d removed and simplified a bit too much, so there wasn’t as much reason to play with different things and accidentally get powerful enough. The new game looks like it’s got more too it. And reviews so far seem to suggest it’s the best one yet.
MrYd
Oh, crap. I forgot to say dood there, dood. ;)
MrYd
When you say they got in touch with a reason for the delay, you mean they got in touch and blamed it on unforseen issues. Which isn’t really explaining much, is it? They might as well have just said “It’s delayed, because reasons”.
I bet the real reason is they were employing Prinnies to produce discs. Cheap labour, after all. And those things are far too explodey. (I think I might have played those games for far too long, and now I believe those cute little blue exploding penguin/bat things are real, dood)
