PlayStation Store Update: 03/09/14 – Velocity 2X, The Golf Club & Danganronpa 2

It’s the first update of the month, and that means that you can all go and grab you PlayStation Plus goodies as of a few hours ago. It also means that you’ve got no excuse not to try out one of this week’s headline releases, as Velocity 2X is zipping straight into the Instant Game Collection for PS4 and PS Vita at release, although you can also pick it up for £12.99/€15.99 if you don’t have PS+. You can see why you should play it in my review from yesterday, or watch Blair streaming the game around about now, too.

There’s also a spot of DLC for Velocity 2X, which the team put together instead of twiddling their thumbs while the game went through submission and waited for launch. Don’t worry, they’ve not been holding back on us in the main game.

Alongside this, there’s the slightly later than planned release of The Golf Club for EU PlayStation 4 gamers, after it released a fortnight ago on Xbox One and last week on PS4 in the US. You have perfect your swing for £28.99/€34.99. Alas, if you were expecting to see Minecraft for PS4 today, you’re out of luck.

However, there’s tons going on with the PS Vita this week, as Joe Danger makes the leap over to the handheld for £6.49/€7.99 – and it’s part of this week’s IGC update too – as does Don’t Starve, complete with cross-buy to the PS4 version that was on PS+ a few months back. Then there’s the absolutely barmy looking Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair getting its release in the west for £34.99/€39.99 and Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited for £34.99/€39.99.

Finally, the delayed PS Vita version of The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 5 appears, allowing EU Vita players to finish the story. I just hope they’ve been able to avoid any spoilers!

  2. Have to admit to being kind of interested in Zombie Driver HD at £3.99.

    Anyone played it?

    • There was a PS3 demo which may still be available. I thought it was ok, but it was no Renegade Ops (although slightly different).

    • Yeah, it’s not bad … except for the fact that it freezes your ps3 all the time unless you play offline.

        I guess its not too difficult a workaround, but still…

      • Yeah that was a bit daft but workable.
        It’s not a bad game as R1M says once you familiarise yourself with the control system for the overhead viewing angle. It’s a good price for a PSN title with a platinum trophy athat has decent gameplay.
        Some of the challenges seem a tad daunting and difficult but are beatable with car upgrades and practice.
        I managed to get the platinum trophy anyway and that’s not due to the game being in any way associated with the racing genre, cos it ain’t. :P

  7. The final bit of DLC for Muramasa Rebirth? That’ll do me nicely.

    For anyone who enjoyed the main game (which was on PS+ a few months back), I’d highly recommend all 4 of them.

  8. I’m kind of tempted to go for Golf Club. I’m expecting it to be bad, but I don’t think that matters with golf games. As long as it has local multiplayer it should be fun regardless. Even better if its glitchy!

  9. Tempted by Blue Estate as I quite enjoyed the demo but its probably not worth it given Destiny is out next week

    but hey, Don’t Starve for Vita, if i can’t play Minecraft in bed, or say, on the toilet, i can at least play Don’t Starve now.
    as a consolation, that’s pretty nice.
