There was a lot of love for Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare. Those that did comment had nothing but praise for the game and welcomed the series’ change in direction, but it wasn’t without a few issues.

“It’s enormous amounts of fun” said Mr Yd, adding “while there’s only a handful of multiplayer modes and that co-op mode, and a few maps, there’s still plenty to entertain you for hours”. Whilst “the different classes all have their strengths and weaknesses” none of them stand out “as having an unfair advantage”. If it helps Mr Yd also said “the gnome bomb is the cutest exploding thing ever”. Their only issue was that “it’s possibly a little bit overpriced”.
Youles was also a fan of Garden Warfare calling it “a bloody brilliant game”. He gave a lot of the credit to the “fantastic” presentation especially after “you consider this has been converted from a 2D tower defence game into a 3rd person shooter”. Unlike many other online third person shooters Youles reported “it’s a game that I don’t seem to ever feel cheated if I’m killed, or even the slightest bit frustrated – it’s just good fun”.
Although he was “never kicked from a game” thanks to the very stable online his only gripe with Garden Warfare was “that it’s predominantly an online only game, which may not appeal to some”.
Continuing the praise for Garden Warfare was Dirtiestturnip with quite a fitting username for a Plants Vs Zombies article. They started with “I love this game”, and despite being “rubbish at it and constantly get my arse handed to me by children that is fine, I can live with that”. “At the end of every match you get given coins which can be used to buy sticker packs which unlock new upgrades, new looks for the characters and challenge skip stickers”, so you are always progressing even if you don’t win or do well.
Their only worry is “that as it is online only that one day it will be a wasteland”, so their recommendation is to “buy it before all the kiddies get new games for xmas and no longer wish to shout their amazement at flying a garlic drone really loudly into your ear”.
Lastly we have Kennykazey who was slightly less enthusiastic about Garden Warfare than the others. “It’s certainly a competent game, but the co-op and singleplayer content is very lacklustre”. Although similar to other games already out there “the competitive online is the stem of the game” with “with fun, new visuals”.
There were two votes each for Sale It and Buy It. So it’s definitely worth giving Garden Warfare a go, especially before the online becomes less populated. To tempt you even more the game is currently £13.99 on the PlayStation Store for Plus users. We’ll be taking a look at InFamous: First Light tomorrow. Velocity 2X has taken ts place in the poll.

Youles
I really hope the £13.99 price will tempt people, and keep the online going. It would be a shame if it went quiet, as it’s the sort of game I would return to every now and then.
Given the low price, and it’s appearance in the latest PS Store sales, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it turn up on PS+ soon. Perhaps in a few months when the MP numbers have decreased, just to give it another lease of life.
MrYd
What are the chances of it being on PS+? Given that it’s published by EA and it’s part of that EA Access thing that Sony didn’t think was good value. If it _does_ show up on plus, then Sony were proved right. If it doesn’t, well, that’s about what you’d expect from EA, isn’t it?
Youles
I guess, although I think Battlefield 3 went to PS+?
I think once EA feel like they have all the funds they can from the game, they could make a few quid from Sony, and via the in-game purchases.
Forrest_01
That’s a fair point about EA Access – The question sill revolves around exactly what (if anything) put out by EA will appear on PS Plus now that they have Access.
I think BF3 appeared on plus before Access was a ‘thing’.
MrYd
My vote was a somewhere between sale/buy. So make the overall score 2.5 buy it and 1.5 sale it. It keeps being on sale, and you should definitely pick it up then, but if it’s somehow not on sale, you should probably buy it anyway and then punch something when it’s on sale a week later.
And I’m really not sure my pointing out the fact that the gnome bomb is the cutest exploding thing ever is much help, to be honest. Do people really think “I’m not sure about this game. I’m tempted, but I just don’t know how many cute things explode”?
It does make me grin every time though. As does the zombies’ singing.

Sale it… Not worth full price buy loving it for the £13.99 I paid.

I got it for £13.99. I was playing it last night and it definitely confirms that I am shite and online gaming…….
