The Hitman: Agent 47 Movie Trailer Is Rather Explosive

Shhhh, no one else is in the TSA office this afternoon so I think I can sneak this post out without anyone noticing. Below you will find the trailer for the forthcoming Hitman movie and it’s rather spectacular with some completely implausible – but cool – special effects.

Rupert Friend plays the titular Hitman with Zachary Quinto and Hannah Ware joining the cast and then running away from the blades of a a helicopter that has decided to land inside an office. It all looks a little silly, but could be quite good, and we find out on August 28th.

  1. Ah, so take the character out of the franchise and put him in something completely unfamiliar. There’s so much wrong with this – when looking at a Hitman film. Actually, even if we don’t look at it as a Hitman film there’s still some nasty looking stuff. Oh well. Best of luck, Hitman franchise! :-)

    • If I’m understanding you correctly, you’re saying this film is wrong because some/all of it has nothing ‘familiar’ with the game franchise?

It’s interesting because I’ve not played a Hitman game before and therefore no nothing about the story or franchise, yet the film in my opinion doesn’t look bad. There are some issues with it, but perhaps more to do with the film generally rather than the Hitman aspect of it.

Fascinating how knowledge of the original story/concept affects interpretation of the adaptation.

      • The film, fundamentally, isn’t wrong but, someone’s made some genuinely questionable choices seeing as this isn’t “Hitman” at all – or at least near-as-dammit. However, without that in mind, it still looks a bit “oh” to me but that’s because 95% of action films are truly just a vary close variation of a theme.

The tone of the original Hitman film was far closer to the franchise but might not have been such a good pull at the box office. Perhaps this will be. We’ll see.

  2. Jason Statham would be the perfect choice for Agent 47

    • I’m not so sure. I feel the film would still require a good actor. ;-)

  3. It looks like it will be your average film at best. At worst, it’s another piece of crap movie that stains the franchise.

I mean, the trailer is giving me the impression that it’s more action then stealth and Hitman is not known for action. It’s known for requiring players to think and use stealth. Or use the ***** it approach. But i’m sure it won’t be as bad as the last Hitman film. Personally, i enjoyed it but it barely resembled Hitman due to it being too action oriented.

  4. The original with Timothy Olyphant was cetainly more “Hitman” like, the guy should be much less “explosive” and just cooler, calmer, and totally bald. This is a betrayal to the franchise but to be fair it isn’t an easy game to base a film on. Should be titled “Hitman Wannabe: Ninja on Steroids”.
