The download is required to install if you want to play online, with the update itself bringing quite a few new additions to the PS4 exclusive racing game. This includes a new multiplayer mode called Team Time Trial, as well as new track variants for Japanese track Kobago.

If you’re waiting for the Plus edition of Driveclub then you’ll be required to for a while longer, since server work is still needed before the game is at a stage where it could cope with the influx of Plus subscribers. Evolution are also continuing to work on private lobbies, as well as replays though single player replays will likely come before multiplayer ones.

  1. Keep up the good work Evo.
Still loving DriveClub. I was actually considering buying a physical disc version just so I could take it out on Valentines Day.

  2. * Adds the option to enable the Rev Counter in cockpit view. – About time but I hope it includes a gear indicator too, it can be hard to judge what gear your in after a shunt, spin etc.

  3. Just checked the download progress and it says it’s 6.56GB, not 750MB, thought it was taking it’s time!

    • No, it’s definitely much smaller than that. But I think I might know what’s going on.

According to another, less reputable website, 6.56GB is the total size of all the updates so far. Had you by any chance deleted the game and reinstalled it? Or never updated it?

      • Hadn’t deleted anything and all previous updates (and DLC) were installed. Today was the first time I’ve played DC for a while and the update message came up while I was playin, maybe something to do with that?

      • Well that’s weird then. Have you considered the possibility that you’ve broken the internets? Possibly you’ve burst one of the pipes it comes in and a whole flood of data poured out into your PS4? More data than was necessary!

Or it’s just being weird. Which seems more likely, since I’m about 50% sure the internet doesn’t actually work like that. (Although when Mr Brian Internets first came up with the idea in 1857 it was. He wanted to send data in little boats to nice ladies who would look up information for you before sending it back in other tiny boats for your butler to read to you in a pleasing tone)

      • Didn’t know about the little boats, shame they don’t have them anymore as it sounds a lot more interesting than copper and glass wires. Although the pipes would have to be huge now :)

      • No, the pipes would be normal sized due to the use of really tiny boats. The problem in 1857 was that nobody could make boats that small and so his idea never became reality.

    • My mate has got a 6.56gb update too and he’s been playing it over the last couple of days.
Haven’t had chance to check mine.
Maybe it’s because he hasn’t got the Season Pass so certain stuff isn’t already downloaded.

      • Would the season pass make any difference? Everyone gets the new tracks, season pass or not. New cars are presumably included for everyone, since even if you haven’t paid to drive them, other players might be using them against you. So the extra only thing season pass owners have to download is the new tours.

Which suggests season pass owners should have bigger downloads.

      • Maybe its the rainbows.

      • You could be on to something there. Since the update, my rainbows are entirely green. I’m only getting 1/6th of the rainbow. Maybe because I only had 1/6th of the download?

I’m missing 5 colours of the rainbow! I shall now go and complain loudly all over the internet. Or make some coffee. Coffee sounds like a better plan.

      • I have the season pass.
Rainbows, it could be, I haven’t noticed how many colours there are in my game.

  4. Great stuff, another free new track to check out and it will be nice to have some more paint job options at the car selection stage.

  5. The best PS4 game just keeps getting better.

    • I’m with ya in that!

      • I’m not sure what I just said…

        *I agree
