D’oh! I set all my alarms with plenty of time for the start of the Chinese Grand Prix, but it seems I slept through them all. That, or the race was so mind numbilngly boring that I’ve managed to erase it from memory.

So, I’ll be tuning into the highlights now to see what happened. Here’s hoping it was a good race with a nice little bit of intrigue and excitement.

This was a week of major game announcements, as Deus Ex: Mankind Divided leaked just ahead of its planed reveal by Square Enix. Needless to say, this was a big deal for those people who have been gagging for a sequel to Human Revolution.

“TAKE MY MONEY!” screamed RocketSQL, before returning with a more measured reply that said, “I loved Human Revolution to bits. Give me this, with larger environments, deeper storyline and plenty of customisation options for weapons and augmentations and I’ll love it!”

Others have determined to head back to and finish Human Revolution – something which I actually ought to do myself – but you can colour jayjay119 sceptical, as he wrote, “I refuse to get excited about this till I don’t see a ‘Oh, by the way it’s exclusive to Xbone/PS4 now’ announcement at E3. Call me cynical if you like but after TR I don’t trust ‘em.”

And there is always that disparity between the action packed screenshots and videos and how the game actually plays. Yes, you can go in all guns blazing, but as Loxstokk wrote, “You can just blast your way through if you develop your character that way later in the game – just not right from the start.”

It will be interesting to see how they tackle the problems of being a sequel, having an established and already powerful character, as well as dealing with the numerous decisions that people made in the first game and where they draw the line in the sand.

Somewhat less revelatory was the teasing of Black Ops III, a game which was already a near certainty unless Treyarch had decided to found a new sub-series in the venerable Call of Duty franchise. However, reactions were a little bit mixed to some of the details that leaked out beyond Activision’s plans.

A big part of that is the continued focus on futuristic warfare and COD:AW’s enhanced exosuit movement, which was already somewhat divisive. Hornet1990 said, “There does seem to be a significant number of fans wanting a WW2 return (me included) but I have noticed on reddit and neogaf that for every WW2-wisher there is at least one other that states they’ll only buy the next iteration if it has exos and the same speed of movement…”

People like beeje13, who responded to the news with a little caution:

I never got around to completing the BLOPS 2 campaign; didn’t feel compelled to do so. I really enjoyed BLOPS 1 and WaW campaigns from Treyarch, and I thought Advanced Warfare had some of the most refined gameplay in the series yet, close to COD4.

I’ll wait for some more details before coming interested, but this game will have huge competition in Star Wars Battlefront and Halo 5.

And then there’s those like kronik76 who have but one thing on their minds. “Futuristic or not,” he said, “a confirmed zombie mode makes this a day one purchase for me!”

Much more imminent than either of those two games is the release of The Witcher 3, with a new gameplay trailer that explores the world and some of the many things you’ll be able to get up to when it releases in May.

“Another game I won’t be able to play when my young son’s about,” said gaffers101. “Looks like his bedtime will be getting earlier in May!” as B_Cambo revealed his rather extravagant plans:

Of all the games that have been and all the ones yet too come there are two that have me jumping up and down like a kid on Christmas Eve: Uncharted 4… and this! I actually already have a two week holiday booked in at work for this game and I can’t freaking wait!!!

Reminds me of Dragon Age Inquistion with the herb collecting and bomb crafting which is fine by me.

Perhaps forgetting that there are already two games in the series that he might look to for a hint as to how this will play, Kennykazey cautiously said, “I’m loving the look of this, but I worry that the gameplay may not be my cup of tea. I’ll have to see some detailed reviews and gameplay first.”
That’s nothing compared to kjkg’s air of confusion though. “I kept thinking that this was an add on to the already released Witcher III,” he wrote. “No wonder I never saw it in the shops!”

We’ll kick things off this time with a pair of rather speedy platinum trophy records, as R1MJAW ploughed his way through Axiom Verge last weekend, when he wasn’t helping Forrest to finish The Crew’s story, and Shaggy2Dope enjoyed his time with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

Starman was similarly dedicated to finishing things off that he went through Battlefield 4’s single player campaign in one sitting. The reason why, of course, is that they still haven’t fixed the bug that wipes out campaign progress. Ridiculous.

No such problems for Hornet1990 finished collecting all the trophies for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s story, but is humming and hawwing about spending time with the Survival co-op mode. Then again, maybe he will, now that he’s finished with the Driveclub platinum – something which I’m chipping away at with just 100 more race events to do.

Speaking of farming, MrYd has just got to get through 175 bounties for his Diablo 3 platinum on PS4, and while a number of people didn’t get on with Never Alone, CharlseY completed it and seemed to enjoy it.

Finally, Crazy_Del has blazed his way past the 10,000 bronze trophy mark while working his way through Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment for his 259th platinum trophy. The man is quite ridiculous.

We’re nearly done, but you can head over to page two for the return of the Fastest Platinum boards. To finish off this page, we have the usual submission form for photos and accomplishments.

  1. 120 bounties for my Diablo 3 platinum now. I’ve somehow managed to avoid the temptation to watch all 13 episodes of Daredevil on Netflix, so I got through a few more bounties. I’ll have it done by next weekend, I’m sure. And quite possibly get through all of Daredevil too. (Which is very, very good. And features one of the best fights I’ve ever seen on TV. Reminded me of the famous corridor fight scene in Oldboy)

    • Up to episode 5 on Daredevil and it’s getting good. Agreed on the the corridor fight scene, it was very well done, as are all the fights to an extent because people aren’t just easily knocked out but they really take some effort to take down. Fisk is such a brute that a showdown between him and Daredevil is going to be tense (if there is one).

    • There just isn’t enough badass fighting on tv these days. I miss Buffy.

  2. I’ve actually played a few hours of the first Witcher game, but that was on PC and I heard it’s changed a lot since then (hopefully, it felt like a glorified mobile game to me). Although, I suppose I could look up the 360 version of 2. Yes, I’ll do that.

    • I’ve played some Witcher 2 on PC with a controller now, it’s far more enjoyable gameplay-wise than the first.

But it definitely has some serious lack of polish, which is ironic.

  3. Well done on everyones achievements this week, I should hopefully have something to shout about next as I move closer to the Killzone Mercenary Platinum.
Cant believe Crazy_Del reaching his 10,000th Brozen trophy! Quite incredible.
My feelings go out to Starman though, I imagine that was quite a brutal session to complete Battlefield 4 in one go, hat off to you dude!

Surprisingly, being a former xbox gamer, I actually havent played the older titles of The Witcher. This will be my first experience of the series. But in ways thats what makes me so excited for it as it will be new and fresh to me. Very much looking forward to it and I’m sure it wont let me down.

    • Thanks, it wasn’t too bad, just annoying the amount of times you had to stop and listen to the squad arguing! Back to the multiplayer now.

      • Glad to hear it, I know the feeling of having to wait through the cut scences, Hardline was bad for that aswell so annoying not being able to skip. Good luck on your mulitplayer will be a good platinum to have when you achieve it ;)

  4. Spring is looking to be a great period for current gen owners. Bloodbourne, Pillars of Eternity, Witcher 3 are all out or soon to be released and i hope this is where this generation goes from not having many decent games out to plenty of games that are decent or excellent.

Witcher 3 could be the game that convinces me to invest in a PS4 once i have the funds. Currently, i’m not keen on doing so due to a lack of games that aren’t remasters or multi-platform games that span both last gen and current gen as i don’t want to buy the same game twice. Ok, DA:I and SOM are two games i am willing to buy twice. DA:I because it’s pretty and because i can see it becoming the game i play the most on a PS4 or PC. Shadow of Mordor because the PS3 version is a bit crap and has fallen foul of bugs.

    • I wish I’d waited a bit more before buying my PS4, haven’t touched it in probably over a month now.
That’s partly because I only have 2 games, GTA and AC Black Flag which I borrowed, but there aren’t that many games that make me want to spend £50 on, everything’s either a remaster or an indie game.

I wish I’d spent the money on a new GPU, I spend far more time playing on PC as it’s so much better and the games are way cheaper.

      • Totally agree with the ”should’ve waited” I’m on the same boat not touched the PS4 in a while and have spent most of the time on the Vita (Killzone Mercenary) I feel the need to play the PS4 but have no games to play until Mortal Kobat is released. And its not the first time this has happened! WE NEED MORE GAMES LOL

  5. 259 platinums? Holy cow!
