(Updated) Next Call Of Duty Confirmed As Black Ops III

Update: Let’s make that completely official, as if there was ever any real doubt:

Activision and Treyarch have been having a little fun with teasing the next entry in the Call of Duty franchise over the last few days. They got all hip and modern by adding little scannable links to Black Ops 2’s multiplayer on Monday, which hooked into Snapchat and gave a little hint that included a cunningly disguised number three in a mentally suggestive fashion. Whatever could it mean?

Well, now Game Informer have posted a video that all but confirms that it’s Black Ops 3. There’s snippets of dialogue from the first two games,  the #backinblack hashtag, and then there’s the rather more obvious III numeral at the end. I’ve basically spoilt the entire video for you, apart from the date of the full game reveal…

So, I guess we’ll be back on the 26th, then. Here’s to some more Cold War era paranoia and clandestine operations, eh?

  1. Damn, with all the rumours flying around about W@W 2, I was looking forward to going back to ww2 :(

  3. Hmm, I’ll reserve judgement until the reveal but am I the only one that thought AW was Blops3 in all but name (and SP storyline)? Zombies, pick 13 etc all felt like the natural evolution of Blops2…

    Was really hoping for a return to WW2; another futuristic title simply doesn’t hold any appeal after Ghosts and AW :/

    • There’s not really a full zombies mode in Advanced Warfare, and there’s nothing to say that Black Ops 3 will be a futuristic title. Unless there’s anything in the teaser to say so, I can’t watch it as I’m at work.

  4. Awesome. The BLOPS series is easily my favourite batch of recent COD games. Hopefully BLOPS3 avoids those silly Exos and just focuses on core gameplay.
    A Wii U release would be lovely too, BLOPS2 works great on the gamepad.

  5. Does anyone know if there will be a proper zombies mode? Being developed by Treyarch I would like to think there will.
