The development team over at DICE took May 4th as an opportunity to shed new info on Star Wars: Battlefront, in the form of revealing one of the locations in the game, as well as clarifying a couple of details about the multiplayer.
For starters, the location they revealed for Battlefront is Sullust, a barren planet with a bit of snow, ice and volcanic lava, all of which contrasts with the dark formations protruding from the surface. They released an image to go along with the new details, which can be seen just below.

Additionally, they confirmed that Battlefront will ship with 12 different multiplayer maps, but there are more if you take into account the Battlefront missions. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though every map will support every mode. You can read the full blog post here, but here’s what they said about the maps/modes.
Some of the maps support our epic modes like Walker Assault, while others are tailored to more intimate, close quarters combat. Our goal is to bring a variety of battle fantasies to life, with map design catering to the modes that will play out on those maps.
We’d heard talk prior to now that some maps might be mode-specific, but it’ll definitely be interesting to see how it all breaks down when the game launches this November.

Yay! Full Priced Multiplayer only vidya game only has 12 maps and only half of them will be in the game mode you probably like to play.
Still there’s always the season pass.

I’ve heard of the planet Sullust in Star Wars lore, but not Sallust. I think you’ve got it wrong.
I’m surprised they’re going for mode specific maps and not varieties of the same maps like Battlefield. Perhaps it’s a little of both. 12 maps sounds a little low, but if they’re good and support multiple modes it could be OK.

If there’s a typo, it’s on EA’s end.Oh, I see, we’ve fixed it now.Either way, it’s better than having a map in Selhurst…

I would rather have 12 good quality maps than 24 rubbish ones.

Oh, you’ll probably get 24 good maps. But you’ll have to pay for the second half just like with Battlefield.
I think EA could win a lot of favour if they announced at least one free map-pack. “First hit’s free kids!”

I wonder how many more sales they would get if they announced that it had four map packs, all free, delivered across a 9 month period from release. I reckon the sales would receive a massive boost with the knowledge that it would be well supported for free over a period of time.

Personally I’m glad to hear that some modes will be locked to particular maps. BF4 made every map available for every mode and some of them simply did not work.

Considering how most CODs launch with 14-16 maps and include a single player also, this isn’t that good to be honest, regardless of size. Especially when you consider there is no single player element, no zombies or anything else to play.

It really is a shame there’s no campaign, however many mp maps there are.
But I do like the pictures of the game a lot.
