Community Round-Up: 09/05/15

It’s been a busy week! We’ve had a royal birth, a general election that will keep us talking for years. Oh, and two blokes had a big fight, but apparently it wasn’t very good (I was too busy sleeping to watch it).

Meanwhile at TSA Towers, it was another quiet(ish) week. Nevertheless,  we’ll see what we can find as we begin this week’s Community Round-Up!

Looking at the Meets, Monday will see the usual GT6 Meet, followed by Battlefield on Friday, with a few GTA V Heists meets thrown in also.

If you’d rather play something else, you can add your own Meet to the list, provided you have more than 250 TSA Points.

Looking at the reviews, it’s been a fairly mediocre week, with our highest score was a 7/10 awarded to two games. Puzzle & Dragons Z + Super Mario Bros. Edition is a “generously sized game, offering hours of puzzling action”, according to Dom, but is let down occasionally by the “lacklustre visuals” and “overly familiar content”. Also on the top spot of the podium was Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, another Wii U title. Blair thought the game felt was less refined in comparison to Nintendo’s other titles, but still enjoyed the familiar visuals.

Tuffcub had a look at Project Root, a twin stick shooter that is so frustrating it almost reduced him to tears on multiple occasions. It’s a shame, because in his 6/10, he caught glimpses of what could have been a great game – if it were for a bit more polish and tweaking. The final review sat on a 5/10. Dan described Brawl as “insanely difficult”, “overpriced” and disappointing considering it’s a sequel that should have fixed a lot of problems the first game had.

DiRT Rally was recently released under Early Access, and Stefan has been sharing his initial thoughts on the game. Codemasters seem to be onto a winner here, returning to their rallying roots has proven that they can make a racer than satisfies hardcore fans.  Continuing the racing theme, Stefan also wrote about Project Cars, ahead of his review that we should be seeing on our screens shortly.

Yesterday Kris blogged about how mash-ups are changing the industry as we know it, while the latest Mobile Watch looked at Marvel Future FightHere, Jim was thoroughly impressed by the fun combat and wide roster of characters, and found it perfect for playing short bursts.

Another game that impressed was Dying Light in its WeView Verdict, where almost all of you said to Buy It. Evolve is already off to a bad start though, as this week’s game, probably thanks to its expansive and expensive DLC, but it’s still all to play for if you share your own thoughts on the game. Your thoughts (and words) in last week’s Chronicle included Silent Hill’s cancellation, Arkham Knight’s season pass and Watch Dogs 2.

Finishing up, the Podcast was back with Kris, Kev and Blair in Episode 177, while What We Played #202 featured GTA, Kirby and Project Cars.

Time for just a quick look at the Forums:

Well that’s all there’s time for this week. I’ll see you next time – bye!

  1. I haven’t been part of the GT6 meets in ages now because it’s too much hassle (i.e. I’m too lazy) to set my PS3 up again.
With the awesome PCars now finally out we should start a meet for that, if people are interested?
