If you’re partaking in the adventures of Geralt of Rivia on PS4, and your console is connected to the internet, you may want to be mindful of a new bug that just popped up.
It seems to have come along with patch 1.03, which just went live this week, and hinders or completely halts the player’s ability to earn XP for main or side quests. In the CDPR forums, people are seeing a couple of different things but they all pertain to the loss of XP, and it seems to be exclusive to the PS4 version.
As others in the forum have noted, this is essentially a game breaking bug, because even though you can continue to wander the countryside and complete some quests without issue, each quest has a recommended level that should be met. Not being able to fully earn XP (or at all) means progression is limited for some people, and gamers experiencing this bug are eventually hitting a point in the game where their character just doesn’t have enough skill points to proceed.
Thankfully, CDPR is already on the case, as a member of their team came into the forums to state that they’ve already located the cause and are working on a fix, so we should hear more about a new patch in the coming days.
Until then, keep an eye on how much XP you’re earning and proceed with caution.

A patch for the patch that patched the original patch.

A bandage and plenty of TLC!

I put another few hours in last night, but I’m still pretty low level so this isn’t becoming an issue for me yet (hopefully). I hope the patch comes out soon as this is going to be a hard game not to play whilst waiting for an update. Seems to be turning into a bit of a Skyrim…do we know when they are releasing the backward flying dragons patch?

I still got the messages I was earning XP points even after the patch was installed just when it went live, and I also levelled up. Then I fell asleep over the game last night, as it kept me up a bit late this week… ;o)

Conpleted a couple of side quests this am and got the xp ok. Going to be keeping a keen eye on it though.

Played a few hours doing several side missions last night and XP didn’t move at all. Assumed you didn’t get XP for all missions.
I have also noticed this game probably has the most bugs I’ve ever seen. The AI is awful to the point I’m killing much higher leveled creatures with the crossbow (slowly) just because they have an invisible force field stopping them get to me.
Also some enemy characters just run passed and ignore me even if i start attacking them.
I still love the game though, although I’m going to keep an eye on the XP and stop playing if this bug effects me.

I would comment on how glad I am I cancelled my PS4 pre-order and switched to the PC version only I’m not confident at all that the PC Version is any better in the bug department. Quite disappointed in CD Red actually. Expect better from them when it comes to releasing a game without major bugs. I can only assume that they are struggling to cope with 3 separate system builds.

I’ve been playing witcher for a while since this update and I’m happy to say I haven’t encountered any issues with xp. I’m not the greatest gamer, so I need all the xp I can get!
I don’t think it’s fair to be annoyed with cdproject red, as this game is pretty much a masterpiece and there’s only so much testing you can do. I believe this is a genuine surprise to them, and they are doing what they can to rectify the issues.
Main thing I would like is a fix for the frame pacing on the horse, and also when you turn the camera slowly.

One of the best game that I have seen lately. Hope to complete it soon.
