It’s been leaked on a number of occasions in the past month or two, but Logitech are making a long overdue return to the racing wheel market, after years at the forefront in partnership with the Gran Turismo series. Today, they’ve announced not only the G29 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC, coming to market in July, but also the G920 for Xbox One and PC, which will be available in October.
Both take the solid basis of the popular premium G27 wheel and try to improve upon it in a number of overly-technical ways. There’s things like helical gearing with anti-backlash – something I’ve wanted for god knows how long…
There’s a common look to the two, but it must be said that the G29 looks ever-so-slightly more advanced, with an LED array in the centre of the screen to indicate revs, as well as the buttons and toggles that stood out on the Driving Force GT, with specific functions in Gran Turismo. These don’t feature on the G920, but both wheels do come with three floor pedals, if you fancy driving with a clutch, and both are compatible with the same 6-speed manual Driving Force Shifter attachment.
Alas, if you’re waiting for a wheel in a similar price range to the popular Driving Force GT, you’re out of luck, as both of these will retail for £299.99/$399.99, which will go head to head with Thrustmaster’s premium wheels.
However, this still doesn’t preclude the possibility of adding driver support for the DF GT in game, and relying on a DualShock 4 to navigate menus, just as Thrustmaster’s older wheels do. Keep those fingers crossed!

It will need support to be patched into the game, but you can bet that Logitech are working with SMS to get it added sooner rather than later. The footage in that video will either have been stock footage of the game, taken from PC – where drivers will be an extension of the G27 ones – or from a build of the game on PS4/XBO with early support.

Glad I nabbed a DFGT, the last of the budget high quality wheels it appears now.
Down the line it’ll be a G2970 for me, though at that cost, I doubt I’ll bother for a while.

£299 is too much. I think being priced at £200 would make it more tempting.
