Ys Net Share Some Early Shenmue 3 Test Footage

As the Kickstarter continues apace, Ys Net have shared some more early test footage from Shenmue 3. Lake of the Lantern Bugs is essentially a reworking of a brief Shenmue 2 cutscene, with Ryo and Shenhua arriving at a lake that soon basks in the glow of these lantern bugs, while we are whisked away on a fast trip to Shenhua’s posterior.

Questionable zooming aside, this new footage aims to show off the newly updated character models. It seems like they really want you to see the work they’ve done on Shenhua’s bottom, lighting effects and the music, which is sounding marvellous.

For comparison, the Shenmue 2 scene is below. Beware that it contains spoilers if you do intend to still play the earlier games, as well as noticeably less ass fascination.

The Shenmue 3 Kickstarter is still going, set to finish this weekend. To date, the hugely popular Kickstarter has amassed just under $5 million in pledges. It was recently updated to feature a physical PS4 copy of the game as a reward tier, in addition to a digital copy. To many long-term fans, Shenmue 3’s existence is still settling in, and this new footage should help assuage fears that it is really happening and that it isn’t some dastardly elaborate prank. It’s still worth bearing in mind that the release date isn’t set for another two years.

  1. More polygons for bottoms is always good. :D

  2. I can’t wait for this to arrive! Here’s hoping for a re-release of 1 and 2 from Sega in some form.
