The Uncharted Movie Slips To 2017, Joining Resident Evil 6

“June 10 is a great date for Uncharted,” said Sony Pictures president Doug Belgrad a year ago, “It’s just the right place for this exciting action-adventure film.”

The Uncharted movie is still on track for release in June, but has moved to June 30th 2017, a whole year delay. The much maligned movie has gone through countless directors, most recently losing Seth Gordon, and is currently residing in development hell.

Also in hell, albeit a cinematic one, is the lovely Milla Jovovich, star of the ridiculously successful Resident Evil movies. They may have very little to do with the game but they are great popcorn fun in my opinion. Apart from the second one, let’s pretend that one doesn’t exist.

Resident Evil 6, or Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, hits cinemas on 27th January, 2017, and will reportedly see Ali Larter reprise her role of  Claire Redfield, joining Milla’s Alice to battle The Red Queen, the original baddy from the original Resident Evil movie.

  1. Another Resident Evil movie… with a battle against the original antagonist whatever will they think of next.

  2. How exactly do they have a release date for a movie that seemingly has no director & is currently residing in development hell??

Seems a bit on the mental side if you ask me.

    • Worked for Ant-Man.

      • True, but I get the feeling that Ant Man was pretty much finished in terms of concept, scripting, story boarding likely visual effects etc as I think Edgar Wright had done a lot of that already before he dropped out due to creative differences with Disney (or whatever reason it was that he decided not to direct) – As far as I recall, all we have heard about the uncharted movie was some terrible concept for a ‘family’ based movie, which was then scrapped in favour of a more ‘traditional’ adventure.

Not that this is top of my ‘must watch’ list or anything, but I don’t hold a lot of hope of a serviceable romp with no real details (that I know of), a date already set & no-one at the helm.

  3. Are there really only five Resi movies? Five too many but I thought there were way more than that.

I remember when people used to say the movies were awful because they were nothing like the games and now the games are just as bad as the movies.

    • Yes I’m pLaying 6 at the moment – it’s all action and big set pieces, seems have been heavily influenced by the movies.
