It looks like The Witcher III: Wild Hunt will be the last outing to the world of the Witcher for some time with developers CD Projekt Red turning their attention to their next project, Cyberpunk 2077.
“It deserves some rest,” said CEO Marcin Iwinski, referring to the Witcher series. “The past ten years the team has been working on swords and castles and medieval Slavic monsters. So I think it’s time for some guns, androids, and some ammo. And a necropolis. So this is what we’ll be working on.”
“We definitely are not annualizing a franchise or anything – it’s about the experience,” he added. “The world of The Witcher is gigantic and it’s great to tell these stories, but I don’t know when this will happen.”

You took the words right out of my mouth.
To avoid the assassins creed syndrome, this is definitely the way to go. Keeps things fresh and different.
I’m still getting through Witcher 3 and will be for the foreseeable future, so I’m in no rush for a 4th game. There’s so much to do in it and new game+ is a whole other story.

The Witcher 3 is fantastic but I’d much rather they focus on Cyberpunk now. Which is what they’re doing yay.
