News Snatch: Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, The Witcher III, WRC 5, And Defiance

“Christmas is coming, the Snatch is getting fat, please put a penny in the old man’s hat,” goes the song, and as we head in to the final few weeks of video game releases for the year then News Snatch is bursting at the seams with news.

First up, a dev dairy for The Witcher III Hearts of Stone which defies tradition by having loads of beards in game but just a smattering attached to the developers.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean Julien Baronnet has said that the Assassin’s Creed film will be modelled on a couple of classic titles.

“We told [Fassbender] that we were going to build the project together, that we have an enormous brand and we want to make a film modelled on features like Batman Begins or Blade Runner,” he said. “That’s what we’re aiming for. We promised him that he could work with the scriptwriters, that we were going to bring him into all the key creative choices.”

The movie will have a budget of around $150-$200 million, which could make it the most expensive film-of-a-video-game ever made.

Staying with Ubisoft and the Templars, here’s the latest TV spot for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.

Interestingly, the new Creed game seems to be rather light on saucyness. Previous games have included brothels and nipples, but the ESRB rating for Syndicate has no mention of nudity.

It seems like Silent Hills was in production for like, forever, and predates The Last of Us.

“We had a great experience and had great story sessions with hundreds upon hundreds of designs,” explains Del Toro. “Some of the stuff that we were designing for Silent Hills I’ve seen in games that came after, like The Last of Us, which makes me think we were not wrong, we were going in the right direction.”

Ark: Survival Evolved will let you breed dinosaurs, so you can watch dino rumpy-pumpy in PlayStation VR. Probably.

Sony have released a new PlayStation 4 for specifically designed for playing retro pixel graphic games.

This may be a lie and I may have knocked up the image myself.
WRC 5 is now available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PC, check out the launch trailer.

Gunboot: Downwell has been released on PC and iOS, the game is a vertical shooter about a boy with guns for boots.

“Tuffcub will hate this game,” says Dave from TSA, “but I bought this on a whim last night (£2) and am thoroughly enjoying it.”

Hurray for Zangief, my favourite Street Fighter V character. Here he battles new girl Laura and her boobs and ass, which feature heavily whenever there is a cut scene.

Here some more digital boobage, courtesy of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 on PlayStation 4.

Staying with saucyness we have a launch trailer for the Jackbox Party Pack 2 which is… oh. Actually not as saucy as the name suggests, it’s “a bonkers collection of local multiplayer games for up to 8 people, has released today on Xbox One, PC and Mac with a recommended price of £19.99.”

Trion Worlds’ voxel building RPG Trove is now available for Mac. Matt rather liked the PC version, you can read his thoughts here.

The finale of Tales from the Borderlands is upon us, check out the final trailer.

Defiance the TV show has been cancelled by SyFy, but the video game will continue.

“Defiance is Trion’s IP and the game will continue exactly as before,” said Trion CEO Scott. “The show has always been a fantastic and interesting partner, but the two were always meant to be able to stand on their own, which is why the show was primarily set in St. Louis and the game in the SF Bay Area.”

And Finally, some big pimping in Grand Theft Auto Online.

  1. That PS4 ZX Spectrum case actually looks really cool, nice job TC! Also a very nice dig at the retro games swamping the PS4. It will be a shame if when PS5 and xboxtwo come out that we look upon the current PS4 as a platform for ‘HD’ remakes and 8bit games.

    • Agreed. If I wasn’t so busy and could explain why I was cutting out Sam Fox in Photoshop at work, I would’ve made a ‘SamBomb’ PS4 case.

      • I would put a larger hard drive in it!
