Outlast 2 Confirmed For Autumn 2016

Red Barrels have announced a sequel to their popular first-person horror game, and given us a moody teaser just in time for Halloween.

The developer confirmed the existence of the game on Twitter and explained that the game will be “a new twisted journey into the depths of the human mind and its dark secrets.”

Details are thin on the ground at the moment with no word on which platforms the game will release, or where the game will take place. However it’s safe to assume, given its inclusion in the trailer, that night vision camera sections will once again play a prominent role in the game.

  1. Great news, the first one was absolutely incredible

  2. A year to invest in sturdier pants then? They were ruined after the last game!

Does it look like they’re going for something completely unrelated to the first game? Will it contain surprising amounts of nudity? Would they be happy to take my money now?

  3. I think hearing how terrifying the first game was took away from the experience a little for me. I was expecting to be petrified with fear bit it wasn’t so bad. It was scary at first but once you die a few times and restart at a nearby checkpoint, any fear that was there becomes frustration or boredom at having to redo what you just did.

Perhaps if they removed all the checkpoints and if you die, you start again. Or have a team of people you can switch between and if one person dies, your switchable group of characters gets smaller and smaller until you all die or you beat the game. Having generous checkpoints takes away the risk in games like this.

An Alien Isolation style saving system might work too.
