Is that another week gone? Really?! Well depending on your religious bent that’s one week closer to celebrating Christ’s birth, one week nearer to feasting for Germanic goddess Frau Holle, a whole seven days towards a spirited remembrance of the Roman festival Saturnalia, we’re slap bang in the middle of Hanukkah or indeed, one week closer to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Whichever is the case, I’m sure you’ve been playing games, and so have we! Tuffcub, punctual as ever, was the first respondent this week, but it’s safe to say he’s become a bit of a negative nelly, because both the games he’s playing – Fallout 4 and Destiny – aren’t really doing it for him. He’s going through the motions, loading them up, pretending to be engaged, but “they are just… there”. He promises to do better next week, but perhaps he thinks that What We Played is the confessional. We don’t judge. We just hope he’s happy.
Jim is in “crunch week”. Apparently, that is not a heavy abs week at the gym, nor is it a Nestle endorsed diet, but rather a new thing that occurs at university when you have to do all the work before going on holiday. I’m not sure it’s a new thing, but it’s a lot snappier than the “Shit! There’s all this work to do!” week that we had when I went to uni. He has “squeezed” in some gaming – still sounds a bit like ab week – and has been utterly engrossed in the Uncharted 4 multiplayer beta.
“I honestly though the new sidekicks and funny-looking mysticals would dampen the experience somewhat, the same way excessive options began to weigh down Call of Duty. Instead, they give Uncharted 4 a welcome amount of complexity that shouldn’t scare away novice players”.
He’s also finally made his way into Batman: Arkham Knight, and though the story hasn’t grabbed him so far he’s ready for a twist. Is it really a twist when you know it’s coming?
It’s been a light week for Dave, working his way through SteamWorld Heist and StarPoint Gemini 2 for review, while also nearly having a premature end to his Fallout Gump series, though fortunately it seems he’s been able to make him run a little bit further. Or perhaps he’s found employment on a shrimp boat? He didn’t really say.
Mark made it through holidays in Edinburgh and the blackout in Lancaster while still finding time to complete Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Xbox One. Having really enjoyed it, he’s still clamouring for yet another sequel so that he can find out more about the shadowy Trinity organisation. Not only is that a bit of a mild spoiler, but this one has only just come out Mark! How greedy are you?
It’s tough at the top for Aran. Except this week it’s not, as his career on Football Manager 16 as Southampton is actually going swimmingly having reached the Capital One Cup final and made it through to the second knock out stage of the Euro Cup. This is a vast improvement over last week, but as we know it’s a game of two halves.
Tef was the last to reply. But then he’s El Capitan, so he can do what he wants. This week he shoved his head into a magical place while Katee Sackhoff whispered in his ear. What that translates to is playing EVE: Valkyrie on the Oculus Rift. If you thought it was something else, you have a dirty mind.
When not canoodling in space, he also played some Fat Princess Adventures, Fast Racing Neo and a smattering of mobile sniper games, all of which is healthily eclectic, even if he didn’t get to play any of them as much as he wanted.
I’ve been having an ‘interesting’ week which has included a trip to hospital for an insect bite – sadly the super powers are yet to manifest themselves but I’m hoping they’re more Spiderman than The Fly – and escaping the flooding but not the power cuts in Lancaster.
This did however prompt a pleasant evening of conversation, dinner by candlelight, and a short run at Uncharted: Golden Abyss before the batteries on my Vita started to run out. Meanwhile, since the lights came back on I’ve also played some Fast Racing Neo on the Wii U for a future review, and bought Tearaway Unfolded to tuck into over the weekend.
Anyway that’s enough about us – what have you been playing?

Avenger
Mostly Gears of War and some Forza Horizon 2. Done some spec ops missions with Blast71 which were good fun, not long now until the platinum.
Also played The Division Alpha. I wish I could talk about it, lots to discuss, but I guess I’ll have to wait until March.
blast71
Gonna have to miss co-op again tonight mate, combination of still being rough plus got about 8 hours of ufc I wanna watch.

What have I been playing the past week?
Oh, I remember now!
I finished The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Which is a pretty good game, but perhaps jumping into it right after finishing Phantom Hourglass wasn’t such a good idea as I was getting tired of recurring elements. And the train-driving (?) gets old about halfway through.
And I’ve played a bit of both Fast Racing Neo on Wii U and Uncharted 1 on PS4.
Fast is like WipEout with a colour-switching mechanic instead of power-ups, and seems to be great value for money. I look forward to trying split-screen over the Christmas holiday.
Uncharted is another wonderful remaster from Bluepoint and although it certainly shows its age after having played Rise of The Tomb Raider, it’s still a great game and looks wonderful without the constant screen-tearing found on PS3.

I’ve played a few games this week but my most notable point is hitting platinum 60 with GTA V, which has a honourable mention of WaxBull and others in there. 60 platinums was my 2015 gaming resolution so I’m happy there. I’ve also platinumed Grim Fandango remastered. I’ve also bought in the sale The Uncharted Collection and just like Kennykazey says it’s fat better on Ps4 which I’m quite in marvel of. I’ve also been playing on Tales from Borderlands.

Damn just got enter and I saw a typo *far

This week i regained a good portion of my lost progress in Fallout 4, and i discovered that sentry-bots can’t get through human-sized doorways and i also quickly realised the benefit of lobbing grenades at them through said open doorway.. :)

Neither can deathclaws:)

Rather an eventful week for me thus far. Had the usual staples of Borderlands 2 with R1M & Pixel (a bit on Saturday & the usual Monday meets) & of course, Destiny. However, I managed to get myself invited into a heroic Kings Fall raid & as a result, have finally breached that 310 light level. Sure, it’s only by a single point due to higher level drops still being at a low level, but what do points make? In this case, a higher chance of decrypting exotics at a higher level I believe.
Another noteworthy event was that I have used up some of my remaining holiday on odd days off to work on the backlog of titles & finally got around to getting the platinum for Watch Dogs. Yes, it took me a while, but I did put the game to one side for a good 6-8 months before returning to it. Turns out I quite enjoyed it come the end & am even considering dipping into the Bad Blood DLC over the weekend.
Other than that, it’ll be the usual Dying Light with R1M, zerka & Pixel this evening (perhaps followed by a bit of Bootylands afterwards depending on time), plenty of Destiny (hopefully finishing off that aforementioned raid) & some more of the always enjoyable Vice City just for good measure! :)

Erm, actually make that a year to a year & a half since I last played Watch Dogs. Just checked & I apparently earned my first trophy in June 2014! :O

Got Tearaway Unfolded today for £13 in Argos. Played it straight for the last 3 hours and quite enjoying it so far.
Eldave0
It’s been a week of Uncharted for me. Played through Uncharted 1 and got the platinum and finished my Crushing play through of Uncharted 2 last night so I should have the platinum for that tonight too.
Also checked out some more of the Uncharted 4 beta. Really enjoying it and am definitely looking forward to picking up the finished game in March.
Starman
Halo 5’s campaign, Just Cause 3 then back to Elder Scrolls Online. Any TSA’ers played the dlc packs? Was thinking of subbing for a month to play them if they’re good.
R1MJAW
The usual Borderlands 2 co-op with Forrest and Pixel.
A bit of Guitar Hero Live.
Rayman Legends daily challenges.
A little Just Cause 3.
Lots of Nuclear Throne which is great but extremely difficult.
Picked up the Dark Cloud PS2 classic for PS4, started it late on Saturday night, got the platinum on Monday night.

UPDATE – Went on a collectible hunt in Dying Light, secured platinum #145.

I’ve not had much screen time this week, as the weeks before Christmas holidays are usually quite busy. I’ve played some Driveclub races, but mostly I started watching all Star Wars films again, twice IV, twice V, and will now follow the machete order, or what it’s called, means II, III, and then VI. I’m really getting excited and can’t wait for the 17th.

Wow cheers for reminding me about Star Wars:Force Awakens. Wow colour me excited. I didn’t realise it’s Thursday. I’ve got my tickets booked for first showing in the morning. I’m bouncing off the walls here cheers buddy.
