So today’s been interesting, as it always is on April 1st. Tuffcub and I spent last night daubing TSA in fluffy pinkness, to greet you all with Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows in the morning. The unicorns have all been banished now, but I like to think that they’ll live on in our memories (also, there’s all those YouTube videos of that damnably catchy song).
But What We Played isn’t about cropping images in Photoshop, it’s about games. This past week, I spent time playing the excellent Dirt Rally for our review on Tuesday, dabbled with a spot of Nintendo’s Miitomo – if you can call that a game – and had fun with the dodgeball-based party game that is Stikbold!
I also played a few quick rounds of Enter the Gungeon, which has been part of Kris’ gaming diet this week, as well. Kris said it’s really addictive, really hard and makes good use of the bullet hell elements. He’s also playing Grim Fandango, which remains a classic.
The biggest review embargo of the week lifted this morning, with Dom tackling our review of Quantum Break. It’s really good, to boil his opinion down to just a handful of words. He’s also covered the living room with Lego while playing Lego Dimensions with his son, and has bought a Linx Vision, to get a little Wii U-like action for his Xbox One.
Miguel’s spent his time with Stranger of Sword City, as well as spending a few hours playing with Alex and the new game mode that got added to Street Fighter V. However, it’s Japanese mobile games that still continue to “haunt my soul”, he says.
Jim’s busy with Real Life a moment, but has found a little while to diverge from his studies. There’s daily bouts of FIFA and Rocket League in the house, but he’s plugged in his PlayStation 3 and started playing Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. He’s not finished it yet, but has found it a rather poignant experience.
It’s an end of an era at Southampton FC, as Aran got sacked by the board, despite winning the FA Cup with them twice. He’s since been hired by Leeds to try and save them from relegation. His team morale’s low, but perhaps he can get their spirits up now that he’s finished playing Transformers Devastation, thoroughly enjoying some of the later boss battles.
Dave’s played a buit of the Fallout 4 Automatron DLC, building a sweet robot with lasers, and has been enjoying Eathbound on his commute. He’s also our man for the Dark Souls 3 review next week… He’s a brave one.
Finally, Tuffcub has played a “bit of Destiny and that’s about it.” This week, he has mainly been humming that bloody dancing unicorn song…

R1MJAW
Played through and got the platinum for Lego MARVEL’s Avengers.
A lot of Trackmania Turbo, have gold medals for first 90 stages so far (and 37 trackmanster medals).
A bit of Diablo, gained a few more paragon levels.
Got a few more rainbow medals in Action Henk.
DividSmythe
Congrats on your platinum buddy. Is the fastest plat too?
R1MJAW
As far as I can tell, which surprised me.
DividSmythe
Yes me too. I guess everybody is busy with other stuff or waiting for a price drop like me but I might have to drop in and get it soon as Force awakens approaches.
ron_mcphatty
Your Trackmania times are something else, really impressive. And well done with all the golds, looks like the platinums in sight!
Some Trackmania for me, I’m finding the Valley and Lagoon handling really twitchy so I’m settling for silver times and just enjoying the game, it’s lots of fun so far but I prefer the old PC Stadium as there’s so many more of those particular tracks.
R1MJAW
Cheers ron.
Handling is pretty twitchy all round, just varying degrees.
Platinum is still a long way off as I’m not even half way through the campaign … I have however improved some more times and have got 50 trackmaster medals (so that’s 1 of the tricky trophies out of the way).
Starman
Not really gotten into anything this week. Getting bored of The Division, I’m about halfway through the map and the lack of narrative is off-putting.
Been playing some Killzone vita again after rebuying one and just had a ridiculous match where I got 51 kills to 14 deaths! I don’t know why but I’ve always been good at Killzone multiplayer.
The Lone Steven
Been playing Mass Effect 2 and 3. Completed 2 last week. Think i’m in the last quarter of 3 and will be the first time i complete it with the Extended Cut.
MrYd
Someone thought it was a good idea to pick up One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 cheap. (That someone being me, obviously).
So that’s many, many hours disappearing. Getting an S rank on everything is going to take ages. But it’s so much fun killing hundreds of people with weird characters. And it did throw the words “Nothing can protect you from the Fist of Love” at me, which amused me.
DividSmythe
I got the platinum out of Canis Canem Edit on Monday. I spent the rest of the time messing about with PES 15 and 16.
Also thanks to ResoBull or what he pointed out I come to Spain yesterday, I got sunburn and got to spend the rest of my time in shade. That’s the problem being a gamer, 1 minute of a sunlight and I get burned. Mind you I could spend the rest of the time in the bar. Win/Win for me.
DividSmythe
*Also thanks to ResoBull or what he calls himself this week. Is what I meant initially.

More Division with Toutski and Forrest, picked up the Platinum for Minecraft Story Mode Tuesday, some Destiny Trackmania and Pes2016 a quick blast of Battlefield 4 and later should be PGA Tour with R1MJAW an Forrest.
TSBonyman
A bit more progress in SOMA, when i can pluck up the courage to face – or should that be not face – that which thou shalt not look upon. it’s a very effective scare tactic, much more so than the running away bits earlier on on the game.
Also a bit of Driveclub and Treasures of Montezuma.
I completed Book of Unwritten Tales 2 which was a great take on the classic point’n’click adventures and with many a nod to those games peppered throughout. I had to look up a guide for one particularly laborious task in the middle – i can’t imagine how i would have solved it otherwise as it involved 11 or 12 steps, with four options for what you would do at each step of the way – i would probably still be trying out all the permutations if i hadn’t looked it up!
Having removed that disc from my PS4 i felt it was finally time to start playing MGS Phantom Pain, and the opening and intro level certainly didn’t disappoint, absolutely brilliant! The open world wil take a bit of getting used to but i’m getting plenty of the old MGS ‘feels’ from it so all good so far.
Carrot381
Terarria on the vita mostly.
Tried ffxv demo and it was awful.
hornet1990
Just the division, some solo, some with RudeAwakening and a couple of missions with randoms. Looking forward to some Doom beta this w/e though for a change of pace!

Got my 100th platinum – The Last of Us Remastered.
Also 100%’ed Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry (standalone DLC) which has the worst controls of any game ever, bar none. Totally infuriating at times. Combat is poor, the game is glitchy, and the amount of guards that pursue you often makes it impossible to evade them. Glad that’s over.
Also platinumed Minecraft Story Mode (#101) and was surprised to find they’re adding a further 3 episodes to the initial 5!
Andrewww
Congratulations, quite a number, and The last of us definitely a worthy game fro that. Found it quite a pain trophy-wise, I have to admit, felt like playing for ages without getting any at all. Very different from what I expected from Naughty Dog.
Youles
Cheers – yeah I had always pre-planned TLOU to be #100 as I approached it. Probably played it through 8 times across the PS3 & PS4 versions! Definitely in my top 5 games of all time alongside FFVII, MW2, Zelda: Links Awakening and Goldeneye. Rarely is a game that good!
DividSmythe
Also congrats. 100 platinum’s is my magic number I’d be happy with at the moment but stupid work and kids have put paid to that ;-)
Youles
Thanks! Haha, I know what you mean – the kids will definitely slow down the next 100! I need to give it up but I find it hard not to go for the trophies – I enjoy the challenge!
