Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap Heading To PC And Consoles

DotEmu and Lizardcube have announced Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap for PC and consoles, though a release date is yet unknown. This is an updated remake of Wonder Boy III, which originally released on SEGA’s Master System in 1989. A teaser trailer has been released to show what the new version looks like.

In Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap the hero has been cursed, becoming a half human half lizard person. This curse unlocks new powers for Wonder Boy, who can use them to fight the creatures of Monster Land. He has the ability to shape shift into different creatures, all of which have their own skills to aid in battle.

From the heady days of the Mega Drive up until the modern day gaming has been my main hobby. I'll give almost any game a go.

  1. Oh man, ive said this already elsewhere: Game Atelier are going to be pissed when they see this. They’ve been making the a spiritual remake/remaster/successor to Dragons Trap for a while and they even have Ryuichi Nishizawa onboard to oversee design. Now there is this, an almost like for like remake of the very same game.

I mean check the above video against this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjg1s6A6VJ8

Here’s the blog for further comparisons: http://monsterboy.com/blog

I wonder who’ll come out on top? Im happy both ways as WB3 was one of my all time faves growing up in the 80’s, I couldn’t start to imagine the hours i put into it on the Master System. Good times all round.

    • Hold on, I just read that old Nishizawa-san is on board with both games!

  2. when i read the heading i thought it might be based on this.

i was kinda sad when it wasn’t.

by the way, i would have put the video from the official Tenacious D channel, but they region locked it, so, i posted that one.
have i voiced my displeasure at this whole region locking bullshit before?
