[UPDATE] Resident Evil VII Revealed For PlayStation VR, Demo Out Now

Resident Evil 7 has just appeared on the Sony stage and is fully playable, from end to end, in PlayStation VR. Minds have been blown.

The game looks rather different to the puchy shooty nonsense of Resident Evil 6 and has gone right back to the game’s roots as a horror game, there’s a certainly a P.T.-esque vibe to the whole thing. The game is out Jan 24th 2017, and by the time you read this there should be a demo to play on the PlayStation store.

  1. No demo as of yet but excited all the same!

  2. I was immediately thinking of P.T. too.
I’ve never much liked any Resident Evil game I’ve tried in the last 15 years, they were just not for me. But this looked quite amazing, and it’s hard to imagine what it feels in VR… :o)

  3. bloody hell, how’d they keep that a secret?

that’s not some indie game, that’s Resident freaking Evil.
nobody knew it existed, but suddenly there’s a playable demo on the store.

    i’ll give it a try.

  4. It looks excellent! First Person seems to suit Resident Evil and it seems to be supernatural now. Based on that one Ghost spotted newspaper article. Spencer is back. Either this is a total reboot or a soft reboot that will pretend Resident Evil 6 never happened. Like most of the fanbase does. It’s that or heavy drinking.

I do hope that VR and 7 are not the same thing. What could work for VR may not work for 7.

Naturally, i expect the Tyrant to be the final boss with the rocket launcher finishing it off.

  5. I’ll defintely try the demo, the most promising Resi game i’ve seen in a while.

  6. Loving the cover art.

I think going forward the RE series would benefit from individual stand-alone stories rather than following the same awful super-human characters on increasingly absurd adventures.

  7. I had no interest in VR until i saw this. Then they announced Arkham VR too. Must resist.

  8. Just finished playing the demo. So good. Can’t wait for Jan 2017
